With the key injuries this team has, would you be okay if they tried to land top 9-forward by trading picks or sth? I mean this roster is so thin that I become sad just by looking at it.

I was disappointed with the lack of moves during the off-season and really think that it made 'canes more vulnerable when yearly injury problems arive. It just happen to arive even before the season even started.

Another option could be something like hiring somebody who'se been underperforming as of late (isn't it what Carolina used to do?). Ville Leino would be very cheap and it'd be a classic case of low risk/high regard.

Self-Imposed cap means it's not happening brah. We like our team. I even heard Francis say it.

I don't know if they can afford to trade away any more season ticket holders even for another top 9 forward. The pool is pretty shallow these days.

If Skinner is out for an extended period, no realistic signings in the offseason (or now) could realistically have made up for the loss of Jordan Staal and Skinner. Anything is stopgap at best.

Doesn't mean the team shouldn't try, but they only have $3.3M in cap space so unless they can unload salary, there aren't many options.

I wouldn't make any move that we wouldn't have made pre injury. If there's someone that fits past the next 3 months, fine. Otherwise, ride it out and see who responds and who doesn't.

Trade Lindholm, Skinner, and Fleury for Jaromir Jagr. I really want the Canes to finish in 9th place this year.

Hold the course. No trade is going to provide a player to replace two top-6 guys anyway.

Just ride out the storm and realize that we need to draft our way out of this mess.

Who could they possibly even get just to replace Skinner with their prospect pool? You're not gonna get a top six player with just picks.

Let it ride. Worst case scenario, a bunch of prospects finally get a real shot and the team gets a great draft pick.

Agree. I think we'll find out a lot about the character of some of these guys also.

Exactly. We probably weren't even going to make playoffs with Skinner and J Staal in lineup anyways. So lets embrace the tank.

I think they should trade for a forward, if they trade Gleason or Harrison to do it. Otherwise, no.

I absolutely hate the idea of losing "on purpose" ie. not trying to do everything to win.

Ville Leino case would cost 500k but - it's a long shot - at best he could be a top 6-winger in this team till Skinner returns and after that play in the 3rd line. If he fails miserably, so what?

Of course we cannot replace Staal or Skinner but we could soften the blow. And it's not like this team didn't need depth before their injuries, injuries just shove it to your face.

Probably could get LW/RW Kris Versteeg pretty cheap for your top 9

2.2M cap hit for this season and next

Hawks have young guys in Rockford who could play bottom 6 role for Hawks but were sent down because the 4 lines were full

also never missing on draft picks also not giving away draft picks like candy on #halloween also making good trades like ladd for ruutu also just being a better organization than the hcanes from top to bottom

Don't know if I'd say that.

2004: Cam Barker #3 OA; Bolland, Bickell, Garland, Sindell in 2nd round
2005: Jack Skille #7 OA; Mike Blunden and Dan Bertram in 2nd round.
2006: Toews #3 OA, Igor Makarov and Simon Danis-Pepin in 2nd round.
2007: Kane #1 OA, Bill Sweatt and Akim Alui in the 2nd round
2008: Kyle Beach #11 OA, no 2nd round
2009: Dylan Olson #28 OA, Brandon Pirri 2nd round
2010: Kevin Hayes#24 OA, Ludvig Rensfeldt, Justin Holl, Kent Simpson, Stephen Johns in the 2nd round.

So over that stretch, they had 22 picks in the 1st and 2nd round. They "hit" on onlyt 4 of those (Toews, Kane, Bolland, and Bickell). They missed a lot more than they hit on theirs 1st/2nd rounders.

^Keith and Seabrook were there picks and as much of a reason they are who they are as Kane and Towes.
