Keefe had an opportunity to bury himself in a wooden fishing boat filled with flowers and hay and post a 15 minute video of himself laying down in it and drifting out to sea but settled for this positivity crap. No wonder he couldn't bring it during the playoffs.

Is it me or is Sheldon Keefe looking happy and relieved to no longer have to coach the Maple Leafs?
Bittersweet I'd imagine. Likely a massive weight off his shoulders now. New contract still hasn't kicked in.

But still a kick in the ego.

Should've been fired immediately after the handshake line comment

They need a coach who knows how to establish a winning culture, not some sadistic authoritarian but a real leader
They need some of this.......

No surprise. That team needs a coach who'll kick their players behinds for saying things like they're looked at like Gods.

Long overdue and I don't think he's a great coach by any means, but it also isn't all on him.

It is mostly on the players and the lack of accountability that has run amok. The talent level on the Leafs roster should practically win games by itself but heart is missing in big doses. They need some players that have both at the same time.

Shanny has to take a big part of the blame as well - even when Keefe tried to make players accountable he was overruled.

Was nice of the old boys club to give Keefe an extension cushion for his inevitable firing though. Really rubs it in for those of us who actually have to work for a living.

He's really not. And no he won't.
He is though, he's not anything special but he has some good qualities. Most coaches in this league are flawed and it's up to the team to find a coach that fits their roster the best

Before Keefe was in Toronto our defensive zone was an absolute mess. He instilled our best structure in years and allowed us to post some strong defensive numbers that translated to the playoffs. Unfortunately, the offense struggled and our special teams were horrendous which falls on him

Somewhere like New Jersey would be a very interesting spot for him as he can instill some structure they need

Ain't happening.
Marner would be wise to play out his contract, test the UFA market and watch the leafs get nothing.
Exactly. Why weaken the club he’s traded to? If he’s traded, of course. Best to wait to July 1, 2025. Then pick the best spot and the biggest contract.

His structure works in the reg season.

He doesn't adapt in the ploffs, and has been figured out by coaches who gameplan for it.

not saying they shouldn't have fired him but it's gonna be hilarious when this ends up being the only major move they make
