He's known to be a bit of a turnover machine, as well as dumb penalty maker.
His skillset is barely NHL worthy, and if you're playing him more than 12 minutes a night, you're doing something incredibly wrong.
On a side note, he's a perfect 7th guy, and can actually play some RW too. When we get these types of pick ups, you wonder why DE got 2.9mil/season; the scouting/coaching staff has to assume Deryk can be a 15 minute/night guy and be successful.

Good for him. The selfish part of me hopes that he does not get a contract though. I'd rather see him play one more year as a over ager with the Hitmen. I think that the Hitmen are stacked this year BTW.
EDIT- I hope he has a great camp and earns a contract. I was just talking to a friend of mine who is very in the know with everything Hitmen. He says that there is no way Padakin will be back with the Hitmen because they have 2 import players who are better than Padakin. Like I said, Hitmen are gonna be stacked this year. It is possible that they could trade him for something, but his value would be diminished because he would be an import and an over ager.

Competition is always good. I don't see Engellend as a regular in the lineup as it is so I think he would be redundant as a 7th guy.

This team is all about your performance, there's not too much favouritism going on. You should know that if Engelland doesn't perform, he will be paid to not play. That signing was a mistake, through and through.

It will be interesting to see who gets a contract out of these guys. We definitely have room for one or two defenseman who can take two way contracts.
If Brookbank sticks with Calgary, how many tough guys you have??!? Holy **** the level of mayhem if somebody runs over one of your young guys......
