According to the latest NHL trade rumors, the Habs have been talking to the Philadelphia Flyers about defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere.
This report comes from Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, an independent blogger. Eric Engels of Sportsnet, for what it’s worth, says he hasn’t heard anything about the Habs being interested in Gostisbehere at this time.



Who should we believe....a blogger...or a Sportsnet guy that follows the Habs? Hmmm....

As for this latest rumour, never heard of the twitter poster. Legit source? I'm not a big fan of Ghost. The big year is a blip for me, and as a result his defensive shortcomings far outweigh his legitimate offensive expectations. Montreal has enough defensive zone problems. He'd only compound them.

Unless the Flyers plan to trade Ghost for future assets I just don't see a trade happening here. I am a Flyers fan who wants to see him moved but someone like Byron or Lehkonen doesn't make sense for the Flyers.

I would fantasize with a Gostisbehere + Picks for Drouin trade but that would never happen.

Ghost to Montreal makes sense for Montreal.

But nothing coming back makes sense for Philly.

D? If we wanted D we would keep Ghost. Trade Ghost, and Hagg plays every night. Not ideal

Prospects? we are good and as you can see, have little spot for them.

And that is a fine offer. But once again:

Konecny, Voracek, Farabee as RWers. Armia is not a "need".
Provy and Sanheim as LHD.
York, Zamula Kalynuk, Hogberg, Hagg, Morin, Ginning, Bernhardt and Millman as LHD prospects all fighting for 1 spot in the top 6.
2nd is a 2nd

The value is fine, but having to dress Hagg every game for this season does not make it worth it. Come summer...done deal.
