Our D is such in a bad shape, I like the idea of just stockpiling as much as possible to create competition.

When has it been in great shape? Sharks always had defensive issues. My believe is that's the main reason why they never won a cup.

Currently 14 signed in organization. Need at least that many to populate nhl/ahl rosters.

Maybe if we are playing exclusively LHD but there’s only 3 LD spots per roster on any given night. Yes some can play their offside but that’s not really the norm.
