Happy this is done. Always get a little nervous as the college guys seem to be more prone to declining and going the free agent route. Don't know a ton about him but seems like a good raw talent for the pipeline.

Very happy this is done. Like Saska said, always a little nervous with college guys who could just wait a year and go FA.

Would like to see him help the Griffs, Watson will probably want Simon back, but I wouldn't mind Shai getting some of that time instead.

Good size and good skating. Plus his production increased significantly this yr.

Maaaaaybe a #4, if everything goes right.

Very nice, was hoping we could get him signed, so this is good news

I have some concerns about his pace translating, but let's see what he can do

Had a stronger junior season this year than Brock Faber did last year. Just adding this for some inflated hopium. His USHL + College numbers have actually always better than Faber's.

So let's hope he's that second round steal this roster desperately needs.

Find a sucker to trade Holl and/or Petry to.
Petry has a NMC. Our best bet is for him to retire. Holl? Modified no-trade, so we're stuck with him for two more seasons unless we find a team willing to take him that isn't on his no-trade list. Even then, we'd probably have to sweeten that deal to make it happen -- something I wouldn't mind at all.

Glad he signed. How has his skating looked recently?

What I'd like to see happen to our D...

Keep Ed up full time
bring up Johansson
Sign Pesce
Re-sign Ghost for 1 year
Petry catches Hossa's gear allergy and retires
Holl gets traded for future considerations
Maatta gets moved at some point

Walman - Seider
Edvinsson - Pesce
Chiarot - Ghost
Johansson

Let Wallinder and Buium duke it out for #1 LD in GR
Wallinder - Tuomisto
Buium - x
Viro - x

Just, no. We have no need for a specialist that needs to be sheltered. Mo, Walman, Ed can handle the PP.

A few folks thought he wouldn't sign (not you Jaster, not you). Glad to see it done.

Captain Stevie must have finally said "F this current defense."
Keep Seider, Ed, Walman, and Chiarot.
Ghost walks.

Maataa... flip at the deadline I guess.

I assume Buium starts out in GR?

Mo is clearly the #1 d'man on the team. Simon will need a year in the NHL before he locks down the 2nd pairing, BUT he will be on it. So I can see Mo-Wlaman, Simon-Chiarot next season.

Holl is gone but no one will take him. This may be Yzerman's worst signing. He will end up waived and in GR or bought out.

Petry has another year and NMC.

Maata has another year at $3M

Ghost is a UFA.

Of those on this self created bubble, the irony may be Ghost is the most useful of them but his contract circumstances likely means he will go.

Unless they can move Maata, I see them heading into the fall with

Mo-Wal
Simon-Chiar
Maata-Petry
xxx

I can see Maata or Petry being moved to the 7 spot if one of the 3 Grifs shine < Wallinder, Johansson or Tourismito.

Buium - If he makes, won't be ready for 2-3 years.

The Wings defensive prospect pipeline is their most robust.

I am surprised as well. Maybe his grades weren't good, lol.

I'll cut Draper some slack for the Cleveland pick if this kid pans out. Trey and Buch were the only 2nd round picks I liked on draft day.
Maybe cleveland can still become a 6-7 guy? Who knows, Gibson's looking good. I'd have went with Danny Nelson

Right side looks good with seider and pelikka and gibson and Johansson look like they might be steals

As I said before elsewhere id be looking to move up the draft and get eiserman or iginla and possibly move the 2026 pick (top 10 protected) for a younger power forward type top 6 guy

Probably not much value but I'd be looking to move a tuomisto, viro in package deals to move up or for players. With buium signed wallinder might be an option to move

Anyways like our prospect pool , still early but yes buch and especially Augustine look like good picks

It's rare for a team to trade down with a top 5 pick. None of those prospects you mentioned will be enough to move up in the first round, Stevie could offer up every pick this draft for the #5 spot and still won't be able to get it.

Would be nice to get Iginla's son so we can troll Calgary fans, lol.
