I think it's 7 at the moment, Bos, Fla and Det have the Division spots, Leafs and Tbay tied at 18 pts for the wild card spots, to pass the leafs or Tbay, we'd also be passing 4 teams in the Metro fighting for those two wild cards, and 2 other teams in the Atlantic

I’m using PTS% which I like as better indicator of the standings.

It's 4 if you consider a 7-7 team to be ahead of teams that are 7-8-1, 7-8-2, and 5-6-5. I certainly do. Tampa is in the last spot at 7-6-4. I'd say we're better than them, as they are really 7-10. Not our fault we've only played 14 games.

Games in hand are a double edged sword, they only count if you win them, when I think about jumping teams, I think raw pts, but I do appreciate that it's much easier to pass teams when you have the games in hand.

Yes it's 7 but we have games in hand on all of them. Winning 2 of 3 really changes the view. We're going to be behind schedule wise for awhile though so we'll be looking up at the standings for awhile too

The whole conference is just a huge clusterf*** right now.

Earlier in the season, people were dismissing our win against the Caps because they were so atrocious. Yet here we are, the Caps are 2nd in the Metro.

Only the Bruins, Rangers and Blue Jackets have some separation. Everyone else in a jarbled mess. If we win our 2 games in hand, we're in a wildcard spot (in pts%).

Correct, based on P%, Ottawa has a better record that three teams ahead of them, in the “standings”….. and by the time Ottawa plays the Islanders, in seven days, they will probably still be below teams, with worst records, in the “standings”…

Wild have lost three straight, are 3-6-1 in their last ten and are 29th in the league in goal differential. They are simply not a very good team. There are no excuses here - we need to jump these guys early, don't let them get any momentum and take the two points we need.

East is crazy strong right now. I expected our .500 record to place us higher in the standings.

Forsberg should start.

Need to manage Korpisalo's games played and mitigate the odds of him laying the eventual egg and backsliding.

On the flip side Forsberg will have a lot to play for and we need to give him some opportunity to earn 1B. status, which is in the teams best interest.

Injuries happen if too much is asked of a non workhorse starter. 1A/1B tandems are a weapon.

We're running into the same issues as last year. Too many regulation losses. You can't lose more than 25 times before the deadline; season would be over.
If you're going to lose - lose in OT or shootout...
