We're talking about a GM that gave away a 60 point player for nothing because he doesn't talk to teams in the same division, so he's going to trade the NHLs best dman to their rival?

Lets be honest, he'll probably be gone to Colorado for Soderberg, Zadorov and their 1st back

Fair enough

That's pretty huge if true. Karlsson should get at least a decent return to help Ottawa.

Least shocking news ever. I was assuming this was one of the reasons a trade hasn’t happened yet.

So I wonder if the Sens offered Doughty money or not, I’m assuming not.

Probably silly to ask what teams want Karlsson. Better question: what teams wouldn't want/cannot or do not have the assets to get Karlsson?

If you could tell melnyk the team could win the cup but lose $25 million that year OR make a profit of $15 million and have a last place team, which do you think he would choose?

Why not both? When you trade for Brent Seabrook, you get both a cost-controlled asset and a warrior with Stanley Cup experience.

Oh please god let this be true.

Why? That would be a HUGE haul coming back for a signed Karlsson. One that would alter the team's look in a big way - probably enough to ease the loss of Karlsson. You don't want that. You want Ottawa to trade him from a position of WEAKNESS and get bent over the barrel and go into next season with no identity.

This is the last thing you want, other than Ottawa keeping him to start the season.

Ottawa is currently being bent over the barrel and will continue to get bent over the barrel once Karlsson is traded

It's Melnyk and Dorion, we fully expect the sens to get bent over anyway.

Now Sens fans just have to hope where EK wants to play is in line with that team having the type of assets available that you'd like to see extended EK to return, or at least somewhat close to it.

And for the love of god, keep Ryan out of it. Without him this can turn into a serious race and ultimately a kings ransom for the Sens.

Jake Guentzel and whatever else it took for a re-signed Karlsson? Unless it's also Rust, Sprong, 1st in 2019/20, Dumo because that would be stupid.

I think it’ll be pretty futures heavy regardless. No matter what happens, they won’t get a Karlsson type impact back.

Honestly, I assumed this was an automatic for all interested parties.

Who’s going to trade a boatload without making sure the player is at least interested in staying there?

If dorion had any brain he would trade him to a bottom 5-10 team and DEMAND an unprotected 1st next year as part of the deal
