@SabresProspects - I hope you can listen. Malone a really good kid, just a fun interview. Really think Sabres need to give this healthy, productive guy a shot.

Taking a page out of the Bruins book for a moment, there is nothing wrong with bringing in locals who will skate through a wall to make the dream of playing for their hometown team a reality. We've seen the B's roll out grunts from NE for years, guys who willingly break themselves into little pieces to help them win. Malone is that sort of guy - he's going to push people around him through his own drive AND he's got elements to his game this team can certainly use at the professional level in his playmaking and shift disturbing. Sign him.

The only reason I ever soured on him was because I thought he couldn't stay healthy. His game is definitely good enough to receive a contract though.

Malone definitely passing the eye test in the FF semi. His decision making is solid, passes and shots are made with authority, good offensive instincts and deception with the puck, hard stops and starts. It's a well-rounded, mature-looking, pro-style game that he plays.

@SabresProspects -Alex Iafallo (Eden) redirects a centering feed with his backhand through Madsen's wickets. Duluth goes up 2-1 with 26.6 seconds left.
What an ending! Harvard was swarming. Malone hits cross bar. Esposito dings the post. WOW! Duluth moves on to face either Denver or Notre Dame.
Sean Malone completes his Harvard hockey career - 115 Games Played - 42 Goals - 57 Assists - 99 Points. Time to get him in for his physical.

I agree, was really impressed with his game today, looks like we may have a solid prospect w/ him, hopefully we get him signed.

Sunrise, Florida - West Seneca native Sean Malone, who just completed a strong senior year at Harvard in the NCAA Frozen Four, has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabres and has joined the team for its game Saturday night against the Florida Panthers in BB&T Center. The 6-foot, 190-pound forward was a sixth-round draft choice in 2013.

Malone finished third on the Harvard roster this year with 42 points in 36 games. He had 18 goals and 27 assists as the Crimson advanced to the national semifinals before losing a heartbreaker Thursday night in Chicago, 2-1, to Minnesota-Duluth. The winning goal was scored in the final minute was by Eden native Alex Iafallo.

Malone finished his collegiate career with 99 points (42 goals) and had a plus-31 rating in 115 games. He was the Ivy League’s Co-Rookie of the Year in 2014.

Update - @ByMHarrington - Sean Malone taking the morning skate for #Sabres wearing No. 42.

Is it even still a recall if they never assigned him to Rochester after signing him?

That was my original thought. He signed an NHL contract so he would immediately be placed on the Sabres' roster. Plus we're at that point in the season where there's no limit to roster size (or is that not a thing anymore?).

A player can only be recalled from a loan. Malone has not been loaned anywhere, and in fact cannot be loaned anywhere for the duration of this season.
