The Athletic Sabres’ season tickets have become a tough sell: ‘It’s just been so sad for so long’

Why would anyone buy a ticket plan for this team when if you really must see this joke of a team you can get on the secondary market for virtually any game for less? The benefits they offer flat out suck and come nowhere close to making up for the secondary market price difference.
If very few people buy season tickets there could actually be a shortage on the secondary market resulting in higher prices.

If few people buy season tickets, wouldn't that mean that there are plenty of single-game tickets available direct from the box office?

In which case, why would anyone even need to look at the secondary market at all (much less, pay inflated prices there), when you can walk up the the box office at any time and get tickets for face value?

Because the box office face is ridiculously higher than STH face.

Will fix everything
I'm holding out for the 1/32nd season plan, where you get tickets for one game, and for one other game, you can get a warm beer and a cold hotdog for $20 handed to you by a half asleep employee, then you are firmly escorted to the Sabres store with a 10% off coupon for any Eichel related merchandise.

You pay retail at the box. Secondary market prices are determined by supply and demand. When there's a lot of season tickets sold and there's no demand to go to games you can buy tickets cheap.

Just in time for Edmonton and Toronto to come to town on Friday and Saturday.

This just shows you how clueless the Sabres ownership is -- few from Canada will come because it costs an extra $199 plus for a PCR test to enter the country. How inept is this organization not to know this?

So then either few or none may come, but that doesn't mean they are not sincerely welcome, nor that the legal / governmental hurdle of a "closed" border was a far greater restriction than the test / expense.

Also, since you're Canadian, I'm curious... In USA, it is against US flag code to, in any form of official capacity, to wave the US flag in the manner shown in the video. Although it happens at many unofficial functions (sporting events, etc.) by ordinary citizens. Same deal in Canada with your flag? i.e., not supposed to be waved, but happens anyway?

I don’t think Canada has rules against that, other than your standard “desecration of the flag” rules. We’re like, weird up here. We’re just as patriotic as Americans, but we don’t shove it down each other’s throats or “out patriot” our neighbour.

Was lack of Canadian ticket revenue one of the reasons they wanted to keep the payroll low this season?

Unfortunately, we're an unserious country full of drama queens.

Has anyone decided to purchase season tickets next year based on how this team is developing?

If I still lived in WNY I would definitely consider one of those partial packages. Don't know that I could honestly afford two seats for a full season.

I'm contemplating it.. but I'm 4 hours away.

I'd probably be biting off more than I can chew.

I'm 3 and a little hours away, but with 2 busy kids, it makes it pretty tough. I've been trying to get my youngest out for a game since before the pandemic started and it still hasn't happened

I will say that I'm eager to see when the Sabres play in Dallas next season. I've haven't been willing to pay the price for tickets the past few years (who wants to spend $100+ to watch shitty hockey?).

Next season is a much more likely option for me.

Same. What does a pair cost? $8k on the low end? Who can afford that?

JFC.... I was thinking $4k(ish). For 40 or so games that's still $100 and you would think you could get a pair of 300 level tickets for $100.

How freaking crazy are ticket prices?????

Side note: I've never stepped foot in KBC. Last home Sabres game I attended was at the Aud.
