Hearing AAV on Saad on $6M.

Makes it a LITTLE less painful. But I still miss him

Pain is totally gone for me. I love Saad, but he's unaffordable at that price and term.

Saying Stan didn't want Saad is one of the dumbest things I've read on here. He was asking for too much, and Bowman offered something that would work with the cap. Had Saad wanted something in the $4-5M range, no doubt Bowman would have signed him. Stan knew teams would have taken advantage of their cap situation, and offer sheeted more than they could afford. So he traded him, and got a very reasonable return.

This is not difficult to understand.

So we'd rather have Anisimov for 5 years at 4.55 than Saad at 6 years at 6?

Um, Anisimov's new contract doesn't kick in until next year. We have him for 3.2 this year. So yes, we'd rather have Anisomov at 3.2 than Saad at 6.

Plus the 1.5 mil difference in salary might be the difference between having seabrook on the hawks and not having him

Figures.

He priced himself off the team. I'll miss watching him, and wish him the best of luck on Columbus, but it wasn't going to work here at that price.

One good player and one good-potentially-great player plus more space to actually fill out a roster?

Yes, I take that over Saad at 6x6.

And I love Saad.

Sadly too rich for our blood, and even still the risk of a offer sheet from a Western team was too great, too.

Best of luck to him in all but two games per year in the regular season against us going forward.

But.... I thought he was only going to sign for 4.5 and we lost him because Stan sucks? I think we should have all seen this coming from the moment he was traded. He (or sounds like his agent) wanted too much and the Hawks did what they could to maximize the return.

6M sounds about right for what he was apparently asking.

Hope he enjoys being rich over there. Wish him the best but oh well. Hawks can win without him.

Don't underestimate Columbus. They are going to be good soon, and would've been a playoff team this year had it not been for a brutal stretch of injuries to start the seasons.

Hope CBJ misses the playoffs and Chicago doesn't skip a beat with the influx of new blood onto the squad. And I mean that. Saad thought he was bigger than the idea of winning more cups. He knew damn well this org would pay him big money if he played ball on the bridge, so he's no longer in my 'root for' category. Enjoy being on a fringe contender and never seeing the SCF again.
