At the Rink
Ryerson University announced Tuesday that the school is changing its name to Toronto Metropolitan University.

For the purpose of discussion on this Board they will no longer be call RYE, but instead be called TMU.

Not to be confused with TWU or UWO.

Note: The 1st sentence is true, the rest is a figment of my imagination.

Sort of rolls off the tongue, doesn't it.
With TRU and TWU, and U of T, simply "Metropolitan University" might have been better.

Metropolitan University was on list but executives/board were adamant that Toronto be included.

Also, most generic pc name to not hurt anyone feelings

They now join the cool table of three-letter acronym schools that rhyme with "you" - SMU, STU, SFU(?). More importantly do we now pronounce TMU ''Tee-mew" or do we have to say T-M-U?

The name 'Rams' has also been dropped. (as per Ben Steiner - I think he posted about it?).

And the committee dropped the mascot 'Eggy' because its nickname was a derivative of the founder's first name - Egerton. So a completely new brand.

I prefer a TLA (Three Letter Acronym) of MET :thumbu:
