Was quoted in yesterdays dispatch that starting offer was 6.75 mill

I'll dig it up.

You never start negotiations with the number you're likely to sign with. That's how negotiations are always done. Joey's side isn't the first nor the last. The only problem I had with it was the 4 year proposal, which was a waste of time and a slap to the face.

This is what you're referring to:

There’s been a glimmer of hope that a deal could be struck. The Blue Jackets increased their offer to Johansen’s agent, Kurt Overhardt, to $3.25 million per year for a two-year contract. They had been offering $3 million since early in the summer, and this was the first increase.
Overhardt took a $250,000 step toward the middle, too, asking for two years at $4.5 million per season. His previous request had been for $4.75 million per season; he started this summer at $6.75 million per season.

Who cares what was asked for at the beginning of the summer when there were still months to negotiate and no rush to get a deal done? Absurd to be using the "initial ask" in your arguments clamoring on and on about Joey's "demands" when that was an early number in beginning of summer talks

Who aside from Joey, starts his demands at 6.75 mill, when comparables are under 3, and a few slightly over 3 mill ?
