Kole Lind thread, Benning did good in picking him, in this case, yep he is the man. Do you think this pick is bad?

He kind of reminds me of Justin Williams. Both are RWs who are not the strongest guys, not amazing in any one area, but they somehow manage to come up clutch when you need them and that's something preternatural.

Sutter is on a decent contract. He makes roughly the same $ as Brouwer, B.Pouliot Kulemin and Abdelkader
At the time of the draft Juolevi was considered the best dman in the draft. Nobody in their right mind would've taken Serg or Keller over him at the time. I really thought JB would've taken Tkachuk though.
We got the better player in the Sutter/Bonino trade IMO. At the very least this was a win-win for both teams. Bonino was cheaper and slightly better offensively but he was slow as s*** , couldn't win a faceoff to save his life and inferior defensively.
We basically traded Alexander Mallet and a 3rd for Derrick Pouliot, I'd do that deal 10/10 times.
People mention Vey but then they forget that Vey's dad literally tried to kill his mom while he was consequently trying to be a professional hockey player for the Vancouver Canucks. I don't think anyone predicted that type of distraction for a newly-acquired young forward.

I wouldn't say he did little in the pro's, 40 points in 52 games in AHL is not too shabby.

He's got a lot of work to do, but seems to be heading in the right direction progress-wise. If he stays the course I could see some call-ups next season.

Kole Lind doesn't seem like a good bet as a bottom 6 guy for the Canucks as they usually overspend and blow their budget on acquiring bottom 6 guys so that they have 8 or 9 bottom 6 guys when they only need 6 of them.

Have you actually followed his season this year? He's been great and has completely rebounded from a rough first year in the AHL.
Get over the drama; the times are changing.
The current management group made mistakes because the previous regime left them with little to no youth to inject into their lineup and they felt compelled to overspend on veterans to fill in the gaps. If they can navigate the cap mess they got themselves in (which isn't as ugly as many of the chicken littles on this board will have you think), they have a plethora of youth who can start to play bigger roles on the team. The Canucks will give Lind every opportunity to make it on this team and, within two years, all the overpriced veterans will be gone anyway. At that point, it will be up to him to see if he can stick.

It would be a bad top 6 if he's in it.
He has some upside as a feisty, shit disturber type, with a nice shot. He's got some work to do defensively, and his quickness is an issue.
If he stayed in Vancouver this upcoming season, he'd likely be a guy that plays on the 4th line and is spotted in and out of the lineup.
Ideally, he needs another full season in the AHL as he was just switched to center to start last season, and seemed to be adjusting well to it. I think the only reason he got a call up this past season was that we needed to see where we stood with him in terms of 'do we protect him or leave him exposed?'
He definitely was not ready to be an everyday NHL player based on what we saw in his brief NHL stint. His first game was decent, and then the flaws in his game started to show themselves.
The problem with him now is he needs to play in the AHL this season to really assert himself as a legit NHL prospect. But, then he will need to clear waivers in order to do so...

He’s not a top 6 player at the moment. Arguably not even an NHL player at all, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t become one soon.
He didn’t show much in his brief NHL stint but he clearly has some talent.

If he can stop being slow and weak... and develops his defensive game... he could be a passable bottom 6 guy. Personally, I don't see it.

Player description
positives - nice hands, good stick, lanky with a good reach, agitator, really good vision for a winger, above average passer, smart positionally with some versatility at C or RW
negatives - slow first steps, a bit of a slug by NHL standards, gets rubbed out too easy and loses way too many battles to loose pucks, defense is a work in progress but not terrible, shot is a bit of a muffin, no dynamic qualities that scream top6. Does what a lot of tweeners do...not fast enough not strong enough not skilled enough to push into a fixed NHL spot currently
Ironically he was bumped by a player (Jason Dickinson) who's development took him down a long winding slow path to the NHL and ended up with him being a up and down utility player that would probably be what the hope for Lind is at 22 (23 this fall). Lind has more offensive minded chops but has far less of the strength and defensive prowess to mirror Jason Dickinson though and still was not in the plans for the Canucks this year a team that needed scoring depth in a desperate way.
He's waivers eligible and won't fit a 4th line very well and still needs to develop more. My best comp would be a weaker Josh Leivo with better passing, agitating but a worse shot. It's too bad because if he had more strength with his smarts and skill he could be a good 2/3 line tweener but haven't seen noticeable improvement since he was drafted to suggest he will get there.

He appears to be a slow starter in every league he's been in but he seems to improve every year. If a team was patient with him and his offseason training was productive, he could develop into a middle six player. His growth seems a bit too slow to think he will end up as a top line player.
Simply put, he is not NHL ready yet. He has potential to be a decent bottom 6 forward, but probably close to an equal chance he is a career AHLer. He is a B level prospect at this stage, but most teams have more than a few of those types.
Not sure if he is a W or C yet. His biggest strength I'd say are hos playmaking ability, and defensive side of his game. He is not strong enough, physical enough, or a good enough skater at this stage, but those are areas that can be improved.
Probably one of the bigger question marks that Seattle took, but it's not like the Canucks had much for the taking. Personally I would have been more upset if Seattle had take Gadjovich or Highmore.
