Friedman mentioned it back in late Jan/ early Feb, and a few others have suggested that he had good relationships there with teammates and management and had expressed his interest in the Habs rebuild and a possible return to be part of it.

Not definite, but also has been out there for a while now.
That was months ago. Who knows what his relationship with his new teammates is. Also, why would any player want to be part of a rebuild?

Agreed it is unlikely Monahan goes back to the Habs. Not saying he signs with the Jets, but the most likely scenario is he signs with a team with a chance for success. He has done enough to get a nice deal as a UFA.

So if we have a deep playoff run you wouldn't resign monahan? Ehlers? Vilardi?
Not sure the playoffs have anything to do with it, but my solution:

- start running three offensive lines with relatively balanced minutes
- demote offensively inept forwards to the 4th line and keep them there
- space for Rut in the top 9

I don't think we have to do much more than to make Winnipeg look like a decently attractive option, nothing special or fabulous needed. But I also see a clear path to f***ing it all up.
