As a minimum that means the US or Japan or someone would have to increase/make flights to station.

Could be it's not being as well maintained as possible and they might just decide to abandon?

It would be difficult and expensive to take over the entire functioning of the ISS - American and European spacecraft will have to take over the orbital boosting role that Russian Progress spacecraft currently perform. It is technically possible, though.

Hire more of us American engineers. Would love more jobs to come out of this. I'm not smart enough to be an astronaut though.

They would need to have someone replace them for less than 7 years? As of right now they plan on closing the station at the end of 2030 and to de-orbit it by January 31, 2031. Maybe they bring that timeline up?
