Needs more Lindholm
I thought the NHL was going to have a rule against this?
They mentioned something about it, and I'm curious to see what happens. In past expansion drafts, you could give a team a pick or whatever to not take your player.
I'm not sure how that would go now where trades need to be X for Y. A draft pick for future considerations hasn't been done under the new CBA, and I don't think it would really fly with the league.
The more Winnipeg and Anaheim keep spinning their tires is the more itchy their GMs must get to pull the trigger on a deal.

It's especially silly when we know the premium young top six centers command. I'm sure a team like Columbus or Minnesota would pony up a good young defender to bring RNH on-board, and that's a bigger need for us than an elite 3C.
Trade RNH today- no later than after Vegas joins the league- and the team will better off for it.
The other problem that was brought up was his health. Can't remember if it was Elliott or Bob, but they were saying teams also worry about his health. The value for RNH in the off season was reportedly Dumba and they were looking for us to add. We're not getting much for him right now because he looks like a $6M 3rd line center. Teams arent going to pay a premium for that especially since his contract is for another 5 years. If he starts to produce he might up his value but most likely it wont be until after expansion.
Speaking of Lindholm, how about Elias Lindholm for Hendricks and 2017 1st. Protected of course, but it won't be a top-10 pick unless the world implodes.

So since people seem to think paying $6M for your checking center is par for the course, here is the C depth of every other NHL club (cap hit in parenthesis):
ANH- Getzlaf ($8.25M), Kesler ($6.875M), Vermette ($1.75M)
ARI- Hanzal ($3.1M), Dvorak ($0.839M), Richardson ($2.0M)
BOS- Bergeron ($6.875M), Krejci ($7.25M), Spooner ($0.95M)
BUF- ROR ($7.5M), Reinhart ($0.894M), Larsson ($0.95M)
CGY- Monahan ($6.375M), Bennett ($0.925M), Backlund ($3.575M)
CAR- Rask ($4M), J. Staal ($6M), Lindholm ($2.7M)
CHI- Toews ($10.5M), Anisimov ($4.55M), Schmaltz ($0.925M)
COL- MacKinnon ($6.3M), Soderberg ($4.75M), Colborne ($2.5M)
CBJ- Dubinsky ($5.85M), Wennberg ($0.925M), Karlsson ($1M)
DAL- Seguin ($5.75M), Faksa ($0.863M), Shore ($0.87M)
DET- Nielsen ($5.25M), Zetterberg ($6M), Helm ($3.85M)
FLA- Barkov ($5.9M), Trocheck ($4.75M), Malgin ($0.69M)
LAK- Kopitar ($10M), Carter ($5.2M), Dowd ($0.64M)
MIN- Koivu ($6.75M), E. Staal ($3.5M), Eriksson-Ek ($0.894M)
MON- Galchenyuk ($2.8M), Plekanec ($6M), Desharnais ($3.5M)
NAS- Johansen ($4M), Fisher ($4.4M), Ribeiro ($3.5M)
NJD- Zacha ($0.894M), Zajac ($5.75M), Henrique ($4M)
NYI- Tavares ($5.5M), Nelson ($2.5M), Strome ($2.5M)
NYR- Stepan ($6.5M), Zibanejad ($2.625M), Hayes ($2.6M)
OTT- Turris ($3.5M), Brassard ($5M), Kelly ($0.9M)
PHI- Giroux ($8.275M), Couturier ($4.33M), Bellemare ($0.712M)
PIT- Crosby ($8.7M), Malkin ($9.5M), Bonino ($1.9M)
SJS- Thornton ($6.75M), Couture ($6M), Tierney ($0.711M)
STL- Stastny ($7M), Scwhartz ($5.35M), Berglund ($3.7M)
TBL- Stamkos ($8.5M), Johnson ($3.33M), Filppula ($5M)
TOR- Matthews ($0.925M), Bozak ($4.2M), Kadri ($4.5M)
VAN- H. Sedin ($7.0M), Sutter ($4.375M), Horvat ($0.894)
WAS- Backstrom ($6.7M), Kuznetsov ($3M), Eller ($3.5M)
WPG- Scheifele ($6.125M), Perreault ($3M), Burmistrov ($1.55M)
Anyone notice something- namely, that NO third line center in the NHL makes $6M? Hell, save for Filppula in Tampa, no 3C makes over $4.5. Only three across the entire league carry a cap hit of $4M or more annually.
Clearly, it doesn't make fiscal sense to stick RNH on the third line. If the plan is anything other than to play him in the top six at his natural position, he should be traded immediately.
Why would the Hurricanes trade a guy they used a top 5 pick on who's just now turning into an NHL player for another pick and an aging Hendricks? The Oilers shouldn't be looking for a 21 year old forward right now anyways. We have enough youth up front.
I'd try for a Jannik Hansen type up front if anything. Strong ES offensive production, fast two way player with elite penalty killing ability.
Unless you are winning and cap is not a problem.
