How do you know this? With him playing with McDavid and Draisaitl in the Allstar and felt like he could fit very well with them. I'm guessing you said the same about Evander Kane too?

Then some sort of absolutely insane futures package. Just doesn't seem like a very realistic idea and even if you could get the two teams to agree on fair value I don't really think that sort of cap structure leads to a lot of winning.

Also seems like a much more achievable trade goal in an offseason environment.

Completely different situations lol. Kane has just lost millions, didn’t have many options and Edmonton was a great opportunity to build value for himself. Karlsson is making 11.5M no matter what. Something tells me that when he signed for as long as he could and insisted on a nmc he’s pretty content staying in the Bay Area. Maybe if he had two more years or less on his deal but I think you could count on one hand the teams he’d waive for with 5 years left on his deal.

That would be largely great, probably need to include foegele too, but I don't know the Sharks will retain that much

Not sure, he's top-10 in league scoring and, I think, is leading the league in 5 on 5 scoring.

So probably quite good. He and Nurse would be great top pair

I mean from all reports he and his wife liked Ottawa as a city, Edmonton is not that much different of a city. As one of the best players in the world it must suck knowing your talent is being wasted, I think he would waive to come to this situation.
