Panik was a guy I identified as someone who fits. Two-way game is solid, he's a good puck possessor, and he can shoot very well at times. He hasn't scored a ton to date, but he might do well here.

what do you mean by that last part? his last three years are 22, 14 an 14 goals

and would you believe, connolly last three years are 15, 15 and 22 goals lol

theres like 7.5 mil left, vrana isnt getting 6 mil,

even vrana at 4 mil leaves stephenson and djoos at under a mil plus the need for another forward still leaves about 1.5 mil

I think your math or starting numbers are off.

9.24m left right now with 17 players signed.

-2.5m for Panik
-3.4m for Vrana
-1m for Djoos
-800k for Stephenson

Leaves 1.54m for two players.

no my math was right, they dont have to have 23 players. they can do with 22 if they want which is why i was thinking a 1.2 ish mil player

Even if they did 22, and Connolly at 3.5m, they'd only have 540k to sign forward 13. Minimum is 700k. It doesn't work.

Here is a better showing, at least you can see him in this tilt

Brandon Manning vs. Richard Panik, November 17, 2012 - Lehigh Valley Phantoms vs. Syracuse Crunch

Inconsistent goal scorer... sounds familiar but... Arizona. Does he hit, at least when the playoffs start.... nvrmnd... Arizona.

The 4 year deals sure sounds like BMac is confident in guys he targets. While any GM can trade anyone if they pay enough, BMac hasn't been here long enough to prove he makes his bad 4 year deals go away without issue.

I think I see a pattern in Gmbm's activity. He signs guys to all co-term around the same year so they can gel together during a set window and if it doesn't work out you just clean house. Deal with all the new contracts at once instead of weaving several contract terms over top each other.

In other words, Reirden probably has another 3-4 years of playoff runs before the seat gets really hot, unless they miss the playoffs any given year in which case the timeline may shift.

right but if they did 22 and panik at 2.5, not connolly?

I don't really follow, what point are you trying to make? With 1.54m left and 21 players signed, Caps can go 23 man on minimum deals or 22 man on a slightly more expensive deal while banking 500k in room.

Either way, there's really no extra space.

The 4 years is strategy to lower the AVV. He's under 35 and the AVV is low. This is a non issue for GMBM.

Decent but not spectacular. Panik @ 2.5M >>> Connolly @ 3.5M

I disagree but we didn't have the space and couldn't offer Connolly a top six role, so it's a moot point.
