It's just dumb. No matter if we'd send back 20 players, it's not in their hands anymore. Cleveland wins their game on hand, and it's done. It is too late. Laval crowd was great all year. And you acknowledge them by not helping them....rookie mistake.

When they didn't do this against Cleveland it was always going to open the door for criticism. I was one that felt the positives outweighed the negatives and we could easily have found a way to mitigate the too many games in a short space of time.

It's simple why RHP & Ylonen weren't sent down before. NHL teams need to dress a minimum of 20 skaters with 2 of them being goalies. The Habs had to call Primeau and Schueneman up to reach that 20.

It would also not be as simple as sending them down when Montreal wasn't playing. Because NHL teams need to have a minimum of 18 players on the NHL roster at all times, including non-game days. And if they sent Ylonen & RHP down, the Habs wouldn't even have the minimum of 18. There are rules that need to be respected in the NHL.

Management isn't to blame for choosing not to send RHP and Ylonen down. What's to blame is the comically embarrassing injury situation on the Habs. When one player returns, two more get hurt next game. When two return, three get hurt. So management was forced to keep them up.

Why send them down today? I imagine because one or two guys came off IR and are now able to count on the minimum of 18 required.

It's too late. They're 6 points back with 3 games to play.

A failure by Hughes this season, he should have prioritized Laval making the playoffs.
But Marty wanted to win the last few games of the season at all costs.

:m-dance:

(just kidding, Habs were handcuffed due to roster requirements)

Are they expected to be back for the last 2 games or they sent them down for the remainder of the season?

Not a bad thing for the Habs to sent RHP to Laval.

And it's a very good news for Laval to get RHP\Ylonen back, the more they play the better and MTL got only 2 games left. On top of Heineman/Struble they added, they should have the depth to make something happens.

This guy got to be Kent Hughes. Giving us in-depth explanations behind the decision making of the team like that. :D

Wish they found a way to do this for Cleveland game. Hopefully, this matters & pushes Laval into a playoff spot. Cleveland is in the driver's seat there.

The last 2 games of the season for Laval are against the top 2 teams in Division, so they'll definitely need RHP & Ylonen.

He was dangling trade bait, and fortunately, Playoffs this year for either team isn't that important. Will be next year for laval, and big club should see another top-15 pick.

Renaud Lavoie mentioned on morning radio that the plan is to keep RHP and Ylonen in Laval to stay. He did say he expects Primeau and Schueneman to get called up to play on Wednesday and Thursday with the Habs.

Regarding RHP & Ylonen, he said if some more injuries occur in Montreal, then they might be forced to call at least one of them up. But he also wonders if Habs will call up another defenseman to play with 7D in order to keep RHP & Ylonen down.

Aren't they in a playoff position? Isn't this a move to make the playoffs?

I'm also not sure that the AHL team making the playoffs is more important than numerous players coming from the AHL and demonstrating the ability to play effectively in the NHL or that there was a lot more Hughes could have reasonably done for the AHL team to make the playoffs.
