I've been a fan. Yes he's doing it as an overager. Yes that matters. But he's one of those guys that just has a great feel for the game in the offensive end, and I think brains and feel translates. I wonder if his shot is powerful enough, but if not he may be a Kaberlite-lite(VERY lite). His wrist shot seems good and he is accurate.

The issue is his "brain". His decision making is not good, don't let his point totals confuse that.

@Mike Farkas provided some good insight regarding this on the previous page. He also touches on Durzi a bit in his video analysis of Bouchard.

Hopefully he will have a season without injuries next year.

Who knows he can turn into a bottom pairing pp specialist.

He has more potential than just a PP specialist, IMO.

I'd say his even strength play is actually his bread and butter. Great in the offensive zone and in transition, but still really solid defensively.

I think Leafs dropped the ball on Durzi, big. Sure they got Muzzin in that trade but... he is 30, only 1 year left in his contract
if Leafs wont re-sign him,... they traded top 4 RD for a year and a half rental, no bueno.

Very strong play-offs so far. In 16 regular season games for Guelph, Sean scored 21 points (8 goals)
- 16 games in the play-offs, 19 points (2 goals)

Keep in mind he is an overager. He should dominate. To me he is just a bonus.

IMO Toronto “dropped the ball” on Grundstrom and the soon to be picked 1st round pick. If LA picks the right one, they have two great players for a decade. I understand Toronto is a contender but I already thought they gave up too much.

Confirmed Trade: - [LAK/TOR] Jake Muzzin for 2019 1st round pick, Sean Durzi, and Carl Grundstrom - Part II

Besides, Grundstrom could easily be playing for them right now. He is a typical playoff player.

Muzzin is a second pairing defenseman who might be looking at a long term $6M deal at age 31.

I agree, I think Durzi is just a bonus due to Grundstrom already looking like a NHL player that teams can use in the playoffs. The 1st is self explanatory in terms of value. Kings did very well in the deal, and Durzi can make it even better if all signs turn out he looks like a player.

Muzzin's play this year made the trade worth it already. There is really no arguing with how he performed and Grundstrom while obviously a good player was traded from an area of depth in the organization. There is actually no way to turn the trade of Muzzin into a negative for the Leafs. It isn't possible.

Leafs paid a rental price for a solid Cup experienced dman with a year left. It was a good deal for them.

Nothing is set in stone for LA.

Grundstrom is a solid third liner.
Durzi has yet to play an NHL game but has been really good as an overager.
The pick has good potential but could also bust.

It was a win win deal, especially if Muzz resigns with Toronto.

If LA gets three NHL regulars I’ll be ecstatic.

I doubt a first round exit was what Toronto had in mind. That wasnt because of Muzzin but he didnt exceed expectatations either.

If i give up that package, i would like to see improvement.

He absolutely exceeded expectations lol. The team result wasn't what we wanted but that does not mean every player on the team didn't meet expectations. That is a ridiculous stance to take in general. It was an objectively great trade for the Leafs....and the Kings also got good value for Muzzin. I fail to see why Muzzin needs to be dragged down to try and prop up what you received back for him. Muzzin turned a player in Zaitsev who was performing like one of the worst players in hockey before paired with him into a net positive player. There is no down playing how good he was for us.

I also watch the playoffs. No draggin down. I was never a Muzzin fan to begin with.

I already had this stance before the playoffs. I dont think it was a great trade.

I think Durzi has better potential to be a top 4 than what we currently have with Roy\Walker\Ladue.
Give him some time next year in the AHL with our other 20 year old D prospects like Clague and Anderson and I think he will develop just fine.

I wasn't big on him before he was a Leaf, wasn't a fan of using a 2nd rounder on him. Very good junior player, but have been indifferent on his NHL potential. He's improved a bit this season, still has had injury problems. From my viewings he hasn't drastically improved in area's of weakness. I see him as more of a good 5th D that can defend competently and move the puck well. Can do some 2nd team PP work. Overall, his season has been pretty similar to last year, except this time he's still got a chance at a championship at this point of the season.

I was fine with him being part of the trade and still am (Grundstrom stings a little though).
