Dahlin led all NHL defenceman in the NHL in Minors taken

Right now, hughes has performed better and pretty much underlying number backs that up

Dahlin could be better this season and going forward
but what we know right now it is hughes EASILY

Dahlin has a knack for getting a lot of completely BS calls against him for some reason.

As for the last part:

Dahlin. Im not a fan of small defenders.
Always liked Hedman more then Erik Karlsson even if the media here in sweden often called Karlsson the best defender lol.
At least you say it out loud. Literally the only advantage dahlin has shown so far is size.

How many think Dahlin would be suddenly be better in Vancouver? LOL

I mean the analytical dive which this thread is about. (By the numbers) Showed Vancouver and Buffalo together in the 2nd to worst classification of defensive tiers by team, And said Hughes was the only thing keeping them from the bottom. So there goes that theory.

Who has Hughes been paired with over the past 2 seasons
Tyler Myers who SUCKS
Luke Schenn
Tucker Poolman
Pretty sweet trio of partners

Dobson

Sure he will never put 60-70 points but in their zone, Dobson is above Dhalin and Hughes

To answer your question, yes for sure if you're including prior season.

Dahlin had some bad partners too.

Dobson

Close to a 0% chance.

Hughes.
2nd option is Boqvist

A load of expectations was too heavy for Dahlin, especially on such team as the Sabres

My guy...

Dobson Or Hughes over Dahlin easily right now.

I can almost understand you still sticking with the homer vote (well, for now) but Dobson easily?

Guess it's personal. I think you're jelly of the Dahlin.

LOL Dahlin is winning this? I guess size is everything in this place. Quinn was absolutely spectacular at both ends of the ice last year. People think small = bad defensively, that will obviously never change.

You... you think it's about size?

Purely numbers based it's hard to go against Hughes.

In terms of top end potential, raw talent etc I believe Dahlin has more offensive upside, and is capable of a lot more.

Hughes and Dobson is the tops from this past season

Well it's sure not about the quality of play on the ice up to this point.

That’s what people aren’t grasping
This is a thread in the “by the numbers”, so a more quantitive, underlying look at comparing players

And last season it was Hughes

If this was in the regular poll section then people can make arguments about future play and upside.

In a keeper league. Points only.
Quinn Hughes or Rasmus Dahlin? I've had Quinn since he was drafted.

Hughes is obviously the better talent but I’d rather have Dahlin because he’s close enough to Hughes in talent that his added size makes him the better overall player. Hughes did have the rookie playoffs where he set the record for scoring. But still I’d take Dahlin because he’s so much bigger.

Hughes is better talent? Obviously? Did you sleep through last season?

It’s an opinion thread and imo Hughes is the more gifted player. Dahlin is close enough to Hughes in talent that his added size makes me prefer him.

This is the By The Numbers forum. Where are the numbers?

Quinn Hughes (blue) with the edge in cumulative point production 98% of the time. They're both 99th+ percentile players though... don't need to play defense while the puck's on your stick!
