Buffalo is such an awful team. Jason Boterrill has inherited a tough situation. People worry about the Rangers rebuilding and point to teams like Buffalo. They don’t have many players to trade to get value back. Tim Murray tried to accelerate their rebuild by signing Moulson and Okposo to big contracts. It doesn’t work. People say Buffalo broke it down too much to tank for McDavid and ended up with Eichel. There wasn’t much to break down.

Steve Greeley is already looking for a new job. He left the Rangers to become the Sabres AGM. Greeley has shown more interest than anyone else in the Carolina job. Elliotte Friedman discussed Greeley in the 31 thoughts podcast. NHL people said Greeley is “ambitious” but not in a good way. Maybe too ambitious. Elliotte relayed those comments to Greeley when they spoke last week. Elliotte said Greeley probably thinks he is a dick for informing him of those comments but Greeley knew what Elliotte meant.

The Rangers rebuild is in much better shape. Gorton isn’t a moron. He makes mistakes. No one is perfect. Smith contract.

Murray made the Sabres much much worse; outside of those contracts, basically threw away prospect and pick after prospect and pick for mediocre players... Lehner/Legwand in 2015

They HAD excellent pieces. Now they have few and the ones they do have are already checked out and don't give a flying f***
