I lived 8 years in Iceland. 6 in NYC. Do not ever make the mistake of mixing up LongIslanders with Viking descendants. I know they are a corrupt, dishonest and inbred bunch living on that isolated volcanic rock in the Atlantic - which I had to experience to many years of frustration and health demise. But they ain’t no fans of Potvin or Butch mfing Goring which kinda forgives them overall…
Well the icelanders fans hate it when you call them that so I’ll keep doing it.

Reyjavik?

Make it an afternoon game so I have a side-game to track while at the Reds game.
Where are your priorities?

Look, we need to face facts here, we will be the underdog from here on out if we move on. President's trophy's only meaning is a few more possible bucks for Dolan.

But, good thing we won the President's Trophy, especially out East, because round 1 was the only round we would have been favored in. Islanders? Yeah we would have been favored there, but that's it, even against TBL regardless of what @Machinehead thinks of that team. Boston too, and Boston kinda sucks. Weird, because the Rangers DON'T suck, we just, don't "match up" against anyone good, on paper.

Anyone that pays too much attention to this nonsense is cray cray. They're just models. Expected whatever my nuts. Where did genius Dom and his model have the Rangers finishing at the start of the season? I think the dog who drops balls down the steps into cups with team logos on them is a more accurate predictor of a series.

they probably want as many eyes as possible on us, so it depends on what happens tonight

As many eyes on us to see us fail. The league hates us. We're the big-market, big-money franchise with the cajones to clap back at the league, when they wanted to standardize all teams' websites (remember that one?) and when we sent the post-Wilson-Panarin letter. And, the league wants the Edmontons, Pittsburghs, Colorados, Chicagos of the world because they have the generational superstars to showcase.

fact of the matter is, we're the biggest hockey fan base in the USA. the league will get way more viewership when it matters because of it

They hate the Rangers but love the NY market. Ratings would be through the roof (for hockey anyway) if the Rangers are in the final.

Dolan pushed so hard against the website alignment that he ended up suing the NHL and lost. But the fact that he did it probably really pissed off the NHL. Then the Wilson letter was the icing on the cake.

They actually do want to see us against the Edmontons, Pittsburghs, Colorados, Chicagos in a long series, so they still get the NYR lovers/haters eye balls but still get to showcase their generational superstars.

Mika Zibanejad was f***ing terrible 5v5 all season long.

However, in the play-offs he looked much better, which is a good thing,.

He was better, but his line was not impressive even against a mostly AHL Caps defense. It's too late to break up ES Zib and Kreider but they +Roslovic have to be much better against the Canes as a line.

With both teams having very good special teams the Rangers need to improve their ES strength game if they want to win the series. I'd like to see Chytil in for Wennberg (offensive black hole) but Lavi won't do that.

One major thing the Rangers have going for them is that the team is full of forwards who thrive on taking on others one on one. That's the matchup the Rangers have to win to come out as winners in the series, obviously without shitting the bed in other categories.

Yet another thing Dolan was right about. Bring back the nyrangers.com message board.

My 2 cents. Needless to say that getting the 1st goal of a game is a huge advantage. Does that mean the final score will end up being 1-0? Obviously not. What I am saying is, a possible big difference betwixt these teams is, I believe the Rangers are a more "patient" team, we don't get rattled and play accordingly. The "Tropical Depressions" OTOH, with all of their 40+ shots per game, might press MORE than we will, which "could" lead to us having some breakaways, 2 on 1's and so forth. Not sure what the numbers were between Car/Isles were, in regard to breakaways and such, but seemed to me the Islanders had many and more than Carolina would want, we don't give up many, or at least I don't think we do. As I gaze into my crystal hockey puck, I have seen at least 2 Shorties from the good guys, especially if the Tropical Depressions are pressing for a tying goal.

Monumental Sports network, the Caps' regional network here in DC, is showing "Caps Classics" right now, the Cup clincher against VGK in 2018. They only have memories to clutch to now.

Probably cheaper even with airfare included than going to MSG
Don't know what my airfare would be, but did the math and it would cost $200 one way, from Ft. Lauderdale to their rink. Not to mention about 12 hours. I want to badly, but not sure I have it in me. Especially since I'd be going alone. I'd much prefer having somebody to talk to on a long ride.

Not surprised that the analytics have us as underdogs, but I don’t believe it’s that big of a gap. These teams are always playing each others close regardless of the Carolina shot volume approach.

It also entirely depends on which model you look at.

The Athletic/Micah have the Canes at 66%.
The sportsbooks have the Canes at 60%
Moneypuck has the Canes at 43%

Who is right and which should be used? As far as I can see the answer is generally the one that fits the story the person is trying to sell.

He had us like in the 3 spot or something. He was pretty on point.
