wow. lots of bs being written here. i have friends in kingston and they told me for sure, werek isnt a hot head or a problem at all. ask mike del zotto, those 2 have known each other their whole lives.
i have no idea why he was dealt but im telling you guys that he wasnt a discipline problem. in fact, when he was drafted, he was lauded for his maturity and leadership. hes very well spoken and as an aside, was one of the few jewish players weve ever drafted.
and if i remember correctly, when he was drafted, some guys had him as a late first rounder including iss and the hockey news. pretty sure he wore a letter for the fronts as a 17 yr old too. pretty impressive.
hes actually a centerman and projected to fill a role that is pretty crowded right now. we seem to be 3c heavy with incumbent arty, the recently signed roman horak and boyle. he probably would have played wing rather than center as a pro but still, im thinking its more that he was not filling a need, may have been unwilling to sign his elc and thus, we moved him for a prospect rather than lose him for nothing.
remember, this kid was heading to bu a few years ago and is very intelligent. he was looked at as a power forward type prospect. he has tools, including really nice hands and a good accurate shot. he was a goal scorer. his skating wasnt strong but he could get around no problem. his first few steps were kinda slow. he would have scored 40 2 years ago for kingston if he hadnt blown out his knee.
teams change their minds on prospects. seems this is what this is more than some attitude problem. hes been hurt alot it seems so maybe that played into it.
lastly, i am very happy roman horak was signed as i thought he would be the better player over werek anyway.
