I mean hasn't this been the case for pretty much all of these young players at some point? Granted, it might have an effect on the TDL cap during the season? I'm not an expert. But it comes off as cheap.

1. There's no roster limit after the trade deadline
2. The Wolf Pack were already eliminated. Season's over, no more games
3. The Rangers had 4m in cap space yesterday
4. Jones has no performance bonuses so he can't trigger those either
5. Accrued seasons don't matter since he's 21 already and will not be UFA eligible until age 27

The only reason left, is to save actual money. By sending down Jones, he didn't earn $9,650 for being on the team for a reg season game (even as a healthy scratch)
