RW Nicklas Jensen won round 15. C Brad Morrison is added to the poll.

RULES CHANGE:

Since HF no longer functions beyond the forum, no reason to have their old rules. We do, however, need the same rules for everyone or else the rankings mean nothing.

SKATER PROSPECT: A player 24 or younger with 50 or fewer NHL games. Therefore, Adam Clendening has now graduated with 60 NHL games under his belt and the full season on the NHL roster.

GOALIE PROSPECT: A player 25 or younger with 25 or fewer NHL games.

EXCEPTION 1: If a player completed the required 50/25 games, but is still not regarded as an NHL regular because he's shuffling between the NHL and the AHL, he could still be a prospect as long as he's 24 or younger and if agreed upon by most people here.

EXCEPTION 2: A player who is no older than 25 years old at the time of the vote and is a borderline NHLer could still count if agreed upon by most people here. Hrivik falls under this exception.

Rambo has 25 points in 44 games, which is 7 fewer points in 30 fewer games than last year, so a good improvement.

Add Skapski. Hopefully he recovers from whatever bothers him post-injury. He deserves to be added at this point given who else is left.

Switching to Halverson because he ought to be top 15 IMO. Add Reunanen.

Halvy has done nothing to warrant high expectations. Even when he was on a dominant team, his numbers (other than wins) were pretty mediocre. It was then that I began beating the drum of him not being a good prospect.

On top of that, goalies in general should be viewed with more skepticism than skaters. For one, they go bust the most. Two, only the top 10-12 goalies have any trade value whatsoever. The rest, if traded, return back some salary in the form of role players.

Only 8 teams make round 2, much less further. If you're not a goalie who can consistently win at least one round of playoff hockey, what value do you have? A forward could be very useful if he's average because it makes him a middle-6 player. A second pair defenseman, which is an average NHL D, has huge value. An average goalie is merely a top backup or a terrible starter. A goalie who is superior than 70% of NHL goalies is still a non-playoff team starter or a starter who gets in the playoffs as a passenger because others are great.

Agree with you that goalies go bust more often than F/Ds. However I don't think voting for him at #17 is anything close to "high expectations", especially in the Rangers prospect pool.

Tarmo is an average defenseman in a league that is below ECHL level. Why exactly is he being added? I understand that Finnish fans say he's doing ok in his league - but look at the league quality first. It's a very, very low-end league, so he should be dominating there.

Based on salaries, Finland-2 is below the Asia league, German THIRD level, Norway, Czech MINORS, Denmark, Italy, etc. The 2112 hockey agency ranked Finland-2 on par with Holland, Sweden-3, Belarus (all decent Belarus players are in the KHL or the VHL, not at home). This is a borderline beer league. Slovakia, where you get $18k-$35k a year, is ranked above Finland-2, as is Denmark and the minor leagues of Germany, Sweden, Czech, all of which are in a similar salary range. Finland-2 is paying a salary that nobody can survive on, it's a stipend, not a real salary.

This is a league that is almost definitely (based on rankings and based on salary) on par with the FHL and the SPHL, neither of which are fully professional. And he's an average defenseman there. Really?

His Liiga team just extended him for a couple more years, so they seem to think he's worth keeping around. He's young and raw. I don't know anything about his league or how he has looked. If he can't make Liiga next season then yeah you can probably write him off, but given how highly he was rated within the past couple years and that he was just drafted in the fourth round, it's not ridiculous to have some optimism regarding him.

I have no doubt that he can some day upgrade to the Finnish league, a league that pays $40k-140k, which is 3.5 times less than the Swiss league and even less than the German league or Swiss minors. Finland Liiga, however, is a long way from the NHL. Even once he makes the Liiga, assuming it happens, he'd have to upgrade from Liiga to the SHL, make a successful transition to the AHL and then dominate the AHL so he gets called up.

Add Ronning. Though he is at the end of this list we have going here...he really did have a good Traverse. When guys like Morrison were sent home, and guys like Gropp didn't impress...Ronning was kept around and a real spit-fire on the ice. Kind of reminds me of Ryan Bourque. High energy guy. Hopefully he can go a step further than Bourque.
