hello caniacs, im just an outside fan coming in peace

Im curious about the playoff runs the hurricanes have had since 2019. I want to know the reasons why the hurricanes were eliminated year by year. (Brind’amour being outcoached , lack of scoring/offense, fatigue, bad defense, bad special teams, lack of elite talent, lack of clutch players, being older, lack of experience/younger team, bad goaltending, the opposing team having elite goaltending, injuries to important players, or simply running into a better/superior/more experienced/more talented team)

2019 why they lost to the bruins in the ecf(sweep)
2020 why they lost to the bruins in the round 1(five game series)
2021 why they lost to the lightning in round 2 (five game series)
2022 why they lost to the rangers in round 2(seven game series)
2023 why they lost to the panthers in the ecf(sweep)

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Boston was a better team
2020 why they lost to the bruins in the round 1(five game series)
Boston was a better team
2021 why they lost to the lightning in round 2 (five game series)
Special teams
2022 why they lost to the rangers in round 2(seven game series)
Two evenly matched teams. Canes played 2nd and 3rd string goalies. Raanta wasn’t good enough.
2023 why they lost to the panthers in the ecf(sweep)

Two evenly matched teams. Lack of scoring and Bob playing out of his mind.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

2019: They were largely done in at that point having basically had to play like their playoff lives were at stake for 3-4 months. And Boston was just a straight up better team that year.

2020: Offense and special teams went to shit

2021: Offense and special teams went to shit. Goalies let in more soft goals then you'd like but some were in 2-1 losses so hard to blame them outright.

2022: Offense and special teams

2023: Offense wasn't there. Bob went god-mode. No Svetch and no Patches.

Good points above and I’d suggest in the early years, the core of team was still very young (aho, svetch, Necas, no Jarvis)

Btw: IMO, a healthy Freddie and they beat the Rangers and with Svetch and Patches LY they beat Florida (Freddie played really well LY btw).

As I’m sure you realize, injuries and experience play a big role in playoff success. Even the dynastic Islander and Oiler teams needed both (Islanders arguably didn’t win their 5th straight due to key injuries).

2019 - cinderella run had to end, that team was playing significantly better than the sum of their parts, with a ton of very young and inexperienced core players that year.
2020 - the team really wasn't that great that year, it was a bit of a retool with a fair amount of new players that year and also had a few significant injuries and trade deadline guys come in who didn't have time to gel with the team because covid hit.
2021 - Lightning were the better team and back to back champs for a reason. They were mostly close games where Vasilevskiy dominated and the Bolts' PP was unstoppable.
2022 - Special teams got crushed in the games we lost, could not capitalize on any PPs and let their PP score easily. Also Igor. Freddie being healthy probably changes that series a bit.
2023 - All were 1 goal losses, Bobrovsky played absolutely out of his friggin mind that series and the series before against the Leafs. Panthers were also playing with a ton of confidence and a bit of a nothing to lose mindset considering they had no expectations. Svech and Patches healthy changes that series too.

2019 was the house money year. Them making the ECFs was more than satisfying.

2020 wasn't a great team IMO. They were in a playoff spot when the world shut down but weren't getting long winning/point streaks prior. They did enough to sweep the Rangers in the qualifying round but Boston was a better team the next round.

2021, not winning that game 4 in Tampa did them in. Tampa was also better in general.

2022, not winning a road game was a problem among other things.

2023, losing game 1 in 4 overtime, yeah they weren't winning that series.

STOP THAT PATCHES PROPAGANDA. HE MIGHT AS WELL HAVE BEEN A COLLECTIVE HALLUCIONATION.

Yes. I'm very certain that this was the trade that landed us with him, and there were very pressing reasons why this was the return that Vegas got for him, and those reasons realized in one could say expected fashion.

What's been said is basically all that was needed so far.

The Tampa series we had a shot but we got goalied/special teamed to death. Whoever won that series was winning the whole damn thing that year IMO and frankly the better team still won, but that was the first series with this core where when the series was over I was saying "ok, we can go punch for punch with the elite in this league and have a chance".

NYR series we probably win if we have Freddy, mostly because we dispatch Boston in 5 if we have him so less tired legs for game 7 vs the Rags if it even gets that far (I don't think it does). Might have even made the final but that Avs team was next level.

Florida series could have gone either way, though Vegas had our number last year and likely still wins the cup.
