I know that, in the past, the draft eligibility year has run from September 16 of one year to September 15 of the next. But I heard rumours that under the new CBA the transition would be made to a Jan 1st to Dec 31st year.

Does anyone know what the situation is for 2006?

Thanks in advance. :)

I'm pretty sure the NHL FAQ on NHL.com stated that there would be NO changes to the age eligibility requirements for the entry draft system.

You're right.

http://www.nhl.com/nhlhq/cba/index.html

The key phrase: "Draft eligibility rules will remain unchanged from the expired CBA (all players must be age 18 by September 15 in the year in which the Draft is held)."

I guess I was just hearing voices again. :D
