So you think a 20-20 PK'ing Centre who as a rookie was 11th in Selke votes, who is still on an ELC, is worth a player who can't crack the oilers lineup? If we were comparing potential that's one thing, but we are trading a proven player. There would be 29 other teams with better offers than Pulujarvi.See?
The reason is your team cannot keep everyone. Just like Chicago couldn’t and why Toronto won’t be able to. Blame the cap. And with Edmonton’s history of toxicity, and Puljujarvi’s undeniable physical talents, he’s a viable candidate to swap some of your salary(which your team will inevitably have to do) for, in hopes of hitting a homer.
We don’t need lots of choice. We have one choice. Bury the dumbass in Europe and never trade him. Done deal.
And while that's a legitimate option, it's one that won't last forever. And the longer this goes on the less and less Edmonton will receive for him.
Exactly — what on earth was he doing in NA three years ago? Mind boggling.
It gets said 5 times a page for like 100 pages. I dont know if its burrying head in the sand or bad reading comprehension by HF. Everyone just keeps repeating take my bad offer and if you dont his value will go even lower. You already explained why that isnt a fear of any Oiler fan yet it keeps getting repeatedNo one in Edmonton cares if the measly 3rd round pick we’d get for him whittles down to a 6th round pick.
Best and only option: Bury his ass in the Euros. Let it be known to the hockey world that if we spend a draft pick on you, you either put your head down and work to earn that NHL job or you can go throw your career away. The value of setting this precedent is higher than any bull**** return fans of OTHER teams keep trying to convince us we need.
Injuries happen every camp to every team. To say the NHL's rosters are set is silly. I agree it doesn't appear to be in anyone's immediate plans though.Nobody's going to trade for him at this point. Every team has their plans thought out for the coming season already and changing them will only get hate from their fanbases even if they would be beneficial.
I'm still hoping Pulju can make his mind up about the Oilers and play a decent season to make his trade situation better.
The spots Puljujärvi is trying to make are shut for every team, no single team gets a player for depth who supposedly can play top 6 minutes and actually be a top 6er at this point in the offseason.Injuries happen every camp to every team. To say the NHL's rosters are set is silly.
I haven't really been actively reading the forums for a while so maybe it's common knowledge. I still remember everyone being a bit surprised by CBJ taking PLD with their 3rd OA pick instead of Puljujarvi. Has anything come out to suggest Jarmo had already known there might be issues with Jesse's development? Is there such a thing as an Oilers curse? I really don't know enough about him to understand why he's failing to meet draft expectations. Was he just over hyped?
Bad example, considering Pettersson was playing in SHL after getting drafted. What was Pettersson doing in the NHL? Succeeding and being a good hockey player. Something we gave Pulju the chance to achieve as well with his equally high draft pedigree and Pulju failed.
If he goes to Finland he will never wants to come back to EDM. At least you will have his rightsAnd while that's a legitimate option, it's one that won't last forever. And the longer this goes on the less and less Edmonton will receive for him.
So you don't think money will ever be a factor? If he goes to Finland he will never wants to come back to EDM. At least you will have his rights
Okay, you call Ken Holland, I will call Melnyk...I mean Dorion. Dorion "makes all the hockey decisions"...The Oilers would gladly accept.
Isn't that immaturity in a nutshell? If he goes to Finland he will never wants to come back to EDM. At least you will have his rights
Jaarmo speaks fluent Finnish. Was able to have a real conversation with Jesse. What this means is that Jaarmo obviously was able to identify some red flags with jesse that a team like the Oilers who probably didn’t even use a translator were not able to.
My theory on the red flags: some combination of stupidity, entitlement, and immaturity was identified.

he doesnt want to play in Edmonton, perdiod. He will get his money anywhere else, Edmonton is just not an option anymore for him, he is alienated IMO.So you don't think money will ever be a factor?
yes it is, I agree with you. Pulju is pretty much done in EDM, Blame him and his attitude.Isn't that immaturity in a nutshell?
"If you don't give me what I want I'm going to run away and never come back. Then you'll be sorry."
That's the template for a kid acting out.
And all that would do would be to force these kids not to sign with Edmonton, delay their NHL future by a couple of seasons and then they'd re-enter the draft. If Edmonton drafted them again, then they can either choose to sign with them, or wait another 2 years and become a UFA (same time frame but a more pain in the ass situation to what the NCAA kids go through). Edmonton doesn't have nearly the control over these kids as you think they do.
