McKenzie: prognosis on Shea Weber’s LBI is not at all encouraging in terms of him playing any time soon.

This, plus what looked to be a broken jaw for Danault last night probably puts the last couple nails in Montreal’s slim playoff hopes

Edit. Looks like they updated Dansukts condition this morning. No fracture. No concussion, some teeth damage though

Question; if, for some reason, he has to retire, does this still affect Nashville's cap?

And there's Montreals out on his recapture...
I seriously doubt it’s that long term an injury. And for the record Montreal has very little recapture on his contract. It’s Nashville that takes the hit if he retires early

If he can't come back due to injury then he can stay on LTIR indefinitely rather than retire. If he chooses to retire because of this injury (but otherwise could recover and come back) then yes.

The reality is they're probably not going to make Nashville pay the penalty. If he retires late enough they would have to gut their roster to clear the cap. They'll either let them pay it off over more years or take some draft picks.
