Would it be too much to ask to get a brief synopsis from tonight's game?
by the way why isn't this your avatar yet
Started off as a typical RR early season game, Perlini flys up the LW and rips one top shelf glove side, Wood one times a laser from the point on the PP, then they give up two shorties on the PP, RR hockey.
Tonight it was Richardson, Rieder and Connauton wearing the As.
Connauton and Clendening running the PP was giving me Boedker flashbacks 'Hey, let's both jump up on the play, what could go wrong?'
Perlini, Rieder and Kempe were on top of the puck carrier so fast the Ducks were having a hard time getting anything going through the neutral zone.
Crouse - Richardson - Rieder were good in their shutdown role, kept the puck in the O-zone when the Ducks top line was out 5 on 5.
Crouse decides where he's going and then takes as many Duncks with him as decide to get in his way.
Kempe was the one energizer bunny that kept the pace up right through the end of the game. He looks thin out there, I wonder how he'd hold up over an NHL season. Played RW in the KHL last season, you know, in case any of our other Lefty RWs might be considered to be under-achieving...
Strome came on in the second period, made that power move from the left side, shielding the puck with his body and cutting across the crease to dangle Miller. Then Kempe set him up weak side and he missed it, picked it back up and threw it right back to Kempe for an empty net put away.
On the 5-on-3 Strome was set-up below the goal line and made some nice feeds through the crease for shots. He's sneaky good.
Negatives? Somebody that can play D in our own zone would've been nice, their last two goals were basically shoveled in after blowing though the guys standing around in front of Hamer. They aren't going to be able to hide KEL and teams are just going to run his side all night. Ouch, probably aren't allowed to send him to the Komets either...
Duclair was in mid-season form, trying to dangle defenseman one on one and turning it over each time. Do not want.
Wood was set-up in his usual one time spot at the left circle and they passed it into his skates three times in a row. It looked like a drill they couldn't get right and he'd just send it back over like 'try again.' Finally Duclair scooped it up, skated to the high slot and attempted a slap shot that was completely wide. Wood must've been looking at him like 'WTF was that?'
MacInnis, Merkley and Etem could just stay in Tucson, Mermis and Campbell too while we're at it.
I guess Cousins and Rinaldo played as well, I dunno, I couldn't swear to it.
