NEW YORK RANGERS @ PITTSBURGH PENGUINS

METROPOLITAN DIVISION FINALS - GAME 7

It's Game 7, so I couldn't wait to start the Pre-Game Talk!

While cardiologists are on stand-by in New York, suicide prevention specialists are trying to talk several million Penguin fans off the ledge. Their whole board is extremely negative, including posting the video of "It's The End Of The World" by REM in the Post-Game Talk. They are really going after Cindy for not playing hard, but the physicality of the Rangers combined with the one-on-one defensive skill of our blueliners is making his job very difficult.

Some Penguin fans are hoping they will collapse and lose so that Bylsma and Shero get fired. That's one favor I am willing to do for them. Let's make their fans happy by getting their coach and GM fired after they collapsed to the Rangers!

50-50.

We are the better team when we keep our legs moving, and win (here it is again) 50-50 battles along the boards. There's no denying that.

Gotta believe the Penguins are going to come out harder than they have at any game during this stretch. If the Rangers can pot a goal early, and give them a reason to quit, or Fleury a chance to question himself, that would be the key to the game.

1. Legs moving
2. Win 50-50 battles
3. Score first and early
4. Hank to have another HUGE game

All that, and we're heading to Boston/Montreal

Voted Very Confident, but I'm scared.

If the Rangers play the same kind of game that played the last 2 meetings, they have a very good chance at winning.

They have the better goalie, better defence, better group of defensive forwards and having Kreider back provides this team a level of speed that seems lacking overall with him not in the line up.

I'm confident, but it's game 7, I'm scared as well.

I'm scared. I think Pitt is going to come out on fire. If they get an early goal on us, uh oh. Even if we get a lead, their offense is so explosive they can dictate the pace of the play and score at will at any moment.

We need to not get too confident. That's a problem with this group before. Series isn't over yet, the biggest game is tomorrow night.

Need to come out on fire, put them on their heels early. Get quality chances and hopefully get a couple early goals, just like game 5. Pens fans expect their team to win so if we put them in a 2-0 hole early, their fans will start to turn on them.

Most importantly of all, Hank needs to be in god mode. He needs to stop everything.

Nothing would make me happier than a blowout a la game 7 in Washington last year. However, the penguins are a better team than that group and I don't see them getting blown out in 2 straight at home.

bottom line, i like our chances. their confidence is low. pressure is on them at home and we play best on the road. we are feeling good about ourselves right now.

like i said before. feed crybaby a steady dose of boyle and moore with girardi and mcd over and over and over. get in his head. give him no room. make him earn every inch of ice. he can be minimized with a consistent shadow.

i think they split geno and crosby up tonight. that works in our favor imo opinion. divide and conquer.

forecheck them to death. stay out of the box and cash on the pp and we advance.

i like us better just because we have hank in net.

How can you be very confident and scared?

This series has had insane turnarounds from game to game, so I have no idea what to expect.

They have to outwork the Pens, win 50/50 battles, play fast, control pace, limit the Pens offensive opportunities, keep Crosby whining rather than playing, watch bad penalties, and keep damage from Malkin to a minimum.

I am somewhat confident, the Pens are in meltdown mode right now. With that said, I think they are going to come out and play their best. This is a very winnable game and also a very losable game, it is going to be very entertaining

Because we all know that the best team doesn't always win.

If the Rangers continue to play this determined, they should win tomorrow night.

SHOULD being the key word.

Playoss Series are littered with teams that played an elimination game better than the opponent only to start booking Tee times earleir than they should have.

Game 7's scare me...anything can happen in a game 7

Whoever scores first will win.

Hey Nash, if you aren't too busy planning your summer vacation would it be OK if you y'know scored a ****ing goal.

Good god, the penguins post game forum sounds a lot like us during the first 3 weeks of the season. Didn't realize how many Penguin fans trashed Crosby and their coach.

Rangers are riding a wave of momentum. Have to keep it rolling. Come out fast, win battles, pot a quick one - and it could all unravel quickly.

Keep the Pens in it early, let te game settle in, and this one is gonna be tough.

Really proud of the last 6 periods of hockey either way.

My only fear is that we are spent after two very emotionally charged games. I hope they can keep up the same intensity and focus for another 60 minutes.

This mentality is really uncommon in sports fandom.

:sarcasm:

I don't get why people get so nuts on here about the reactionary opinions. I have encountered this with every single fan base. That is how most sports fans are about their team. The highs are very high and the lows very low. When their team is playing like **** very few die hard fans feel good about the players or team direction, and vice versa.

I mean I'm not scared, but I think the Pens won't have any intensity issues this time around. Last 2 games were over before they had their heads in them. That won't happen this time. We also have to match them in the 2nd period - it seems they always come out flying after the first intermission.

If this team comes out with the fire that we've seen the past 2 games they have a better than 50% chance at taking this series.

If Pitt doesn't come out with their best game now they never will. The Rangers took it to another level after game four. Pittsburgh just hasn't responded; shown the desire, commitment, killer instinct to close the Rangers out. Now that their backs are against the wall how will they react?

Bigger more specific question: how will Fleury handle the pressure and perform in goal? Game sevens are very hard to call; all the games in the series have been quite unpredictable. A bounce - on St. Louis' goal - had a lot to do with last night.

The momentum right now is with the Rangers while almost all the pressure is on the higher seed Pens, who are playing meh at home, blew a 3-1 lead, and have developed a habit the past few seasons of blowing series leads. Honestly, I'm still annoyed this is going 7. I think if we don't open this series playing 5 games in 7 days, the Rangers win this in 5 or 6. I simply think the Rangers are a deeper, faster, and better team. It is what it is, though, but I don't think we lose next game unless we beat ourselves. This current team has shown up pretty well in big playoff games so I don't see that happening. Looking forward to the game.
