^Very nice draft, although with only 8 teams in the league it's hard to mess up tbqh.

---
8th or so year of a 10 team Fantrax H2H Keeper.

Keep 4 year to year, standard categories but with PPG/PPA condensed to STP and BLOCKs counted

Drafted last night.

C
Matthews (Kept)
Larkin
Thomas
Bennett
Chytil (IR stash, may drop)
Johansen (early drop candidate)

LW
Caufield
Boldy
Bertuzzi
Perfetti (IR stash, may drop)
Perron (early drop candidate)

RW
Pastrnak (Kept)
Batherson
Necas
Jarvis (drop candidate)
Quinn (IR stash, may drop)

D
Makar (Kept)
Hamilton
Chabot
Doughty
K. Miller

G
Shesterkin
Vanecek

At first I was disappointed with my draft, mostly because I panicked at one point and the clock timed out and gave me Batherson automatically. Having slept on it I'm okay with the draft, other than Vanecek not being a sure bet, luckily I have Shesterkin to balance that out

Lol is this serious?
Our settings are
g:5, a:3, +/-,PPP,HIT,BLK,SOG:0.5, shp: 1.5

Like, even if I jokingly believe he can compete, I wouldnt go 43 because I know nobody would touch him. His fantasy pts/game last year under those rules were above Doughty, Ekblad, Dobson, Morgan Rielly, even Gaudreau.

So we'll see. My leaguemates had a good laugh for sure.

Overall you have a great team but it is an 8 team league so it depends to how well your league members drafted. if they drafted as well as you did then you may face some competition. I like EP at 4th round, EP went on the third round in our league after I picked Zibenajad.

I saw you have hits, you may need to add some hitters as Fehervary's totals are not enough. Getting Svechnikov at 80 is good as he provides peripherals. Chabot and Letang at that area, I don't really like. Chabot may lose Powerplay position and Letang after 2 strokes and now with Karlsson, I don't like his situation. I have been an owner of Chabot and Letang for two seasons straight from 21/22 and 22/23. Chabot was alright and Letang was elite the season prior. Last year however with the arrival of Sanderson and now Chuchryn, not sure Chabot will be able to hold PP1 this season. Letang last season was stroke 2 and everything was a down year for him. I tried to trade him but no one even wants him due to uncertainty. I like the hits he brings but I would definitely don't want to pick him that high. Both Letang and Chabot went on the 16th and 17th round in our league which is about right. Due to this, I would advise you to shore up Defense just in case.

Overall you did well in all categories.

Definitely would upgrade your center position. Hits will definitely be a challenge in this roster to be competitive. I suggest to start looking to do some trades if there are not much in the waivers. Who are available on the waivers anyway?

Yikes that is rough draft. Raanta is a backup and definitely not a good option as goalie 2. Josh Anderson is a drop candidate. I like Horvat as a player but in the Isles system not a good fantasy option. Who are in your waiver wire right now? Horvat is not a fantasy #1. Since C is a weakness I will drop Josh Anderson for Logan Cooley or Barret Hayton. Yes those two Coyotes center are much better gambles at this point. If you have Pavel Zacha in the waiver wire that's a no brainer pick up.

Overall pretty good. Letang is too high for me though. I too have Zibanejad who I picked before Elias Petterson. Statistically they are quite similar player but I see Zibanejad has better players to work with than Petterson.
I too have Caufield who I picked in the 16th round. While Werenski I picked him at round 18. He is a boom or bust player at 67 kind of too early to gamble on.

As for Luke Schenn, I see him as a keeper for you. You will need hits and he brings that. Wilson alone cannot be the only hitting peripheral carrier on your team. He went on the 20th round in my league.

I would like to upgrade my defense but do not want to pay an arm and a leg for the upgrade. I am not comfortable with Sandin, Power and Sanderson on bottom 6 while Werenski is in the top 4 with all the health concerns. I will however wait and see as the season goes hoping Sandin, Power and Sanderson can be locks in their team D core while Werenski shows back his form as the season prior. It may take him a while to shake off the rust as he recorded no points in pre-season games so far. He is a boom or bust player that requires patience for sure of his owners.

On the Luke Schenn: its a pts league, so we while hits give pts, it doesnt matter where the pts come from :)

In our league the one who always win only concentrate on goalie categories and hits. The rest he just need to be average. This strategy work for him as he has won the league about 5 times in 12 seasons. Lots of people have better roster than he does but his strategy of dominating hits and goalie stats prove to be a winner. This is why I would never look down on points coming from hits. Make sure you are not below average in that category as it may hurt your chances of winning. I once had a team that dominated all forward categories except hits and goaltending, yeah I utmost finished 3rd overall. The goaltending unfortunately killed me as it was disaster in net for me. Being in 2s and 3s in goaltending while dominating all forward and defense points except hits sunk my season. If you see my roster that season, its crazy stacked but the goalies which are also big names all have down seasons. Just my luck I guess.
My team last season also finished third also got hurt by goaltending. I had McJesus, Pasternak and Marner but had a subpar Vasilevsky and Markstrom in net. Hits again another category I under performed once again. Made sure this season I won't face that hence drafted Timo Meier, Evander Kane and Rasmus Sandin to ensure I will have at least a descent showing in the hitting department.

Gotcha Ill keep that in mind when picking from the waiver and trades. My guess is those are easier to predict compared to especially goals?

A bit like focusing on shot volumes is easier to predict than purely goals...plus it gives a nice floor of fantasy pts.

Your team looks really good btw! LW super strong, RW a bit leaner but some nice boom potentials with Caufield and Laine. D is also a bit lean but Pietrangelo you seem to habe a good mix of safety (Makar, Pietrangeko) amd again, boom potential. Matheson coule be a gem too. Goalies look super strong too. Saros is elite, Samsonov on the Leafs cant go wrong.

Thanks for the advice. This is only my second year playing fantasy, and like I said, I was not able to pay full attention. This one was frustrating because it is the league all my friends are in. I have two more drafts this weekend. I can drop Josh and pick up Pavel. Also, for Raanta, I attached who is available.

Also, there were a couple of auto drafters that hoovered up a lot of Cs. So I am expecting them to have to drop some early on.

Goalies are the hardest to predict, it is mostly based on luck that's how I see it. Fantasy Hockey is very skewed to goaltending as good goalies will clean up the same categories. Forwards and Defense are more competitive but at the same time replaceable.

You can say its more predictable who will get more goals and assist but no one is replaceable in output if you get the right mix and just be average or slightly above average but with superb goaltending. Hits are predictable but there are only a handful of those who are rosterable that provides all other categories as well aside from bringing in hits. This is why players like Jeannot are being rostered in teams because there are just not enough good productive players with above average hits. I do not look at goals and assist, I value peripherals more and will draft a Tkachuk brother if not because Matthews is still available drafting 5th overall.

My roster last season has the following but still end up in third place.

C
McDavid
Lidholm
Point
Hintz
Mercer

LW
Marchand
Huberdeau
Fiala
Bunting

RW
Pastrnak
Marner
Kyrou
Nichuskin
Bertuzzi

D
M. Rielly
Hedman
McAvoy
Chabot
Toews
Seider
Letang
J. Carlson

Goalie
Vasilevskiy
Jarry
Markstrom
Demko

Looks strong on paper but lots of them fell on down years. I rolled the dice on buying low selling high on my drafted players in the trade market. Some panned out but others well it burned me. I did not drafted that well last season hence have to rely on the trade market to fix my roster.

This season I agree, it seems I drafted a more balanced team. The goalie combination is better than what I started last year which was Georgiev, Binnington and Logan Thompson. I traded Georgiev for Vasi and got burned. Thompson was traded for Jarry who was completely unhealthy last season then Binnington I rid of for Nichushkin. I got Markstrom together with Vasi (yeah the guy drafted both Vasi and Markstrom in the early rounds and was languishing) as part of a crazy 11 player package that included me sending RNH (who was having an outlier year), Jeff Skinner, Mason Marchment, Mangiapane and Georgiev for Vasi, Markstrom and Kyrou among others. I hope I do not need to work on the phones that hard this year and achieve something never done before which is to win the league.

I can advise you to take Ville Husso. He is going to be the starter in Detroit still. Detroit is a much improved team so better gamble on him. Yes you should drop Josh Anderson for Pavel Zacha if he is available. He is the default number 1 Center in Boston playing with Marchand and Pastrnak. I see his bottom to be 60 points this season due to such talented linemates.
I suggest you should explore trading Horvat prior to the season starting. His value will only drop going forward from the paltry and putrid Islanders offense.

Thanks for the insight. Everyone else drafted pretty hit heavy. I might abandon that category all together. I agree with defense being a weak point with Letang and Chabot. In my draft Dahlin and Makar went #9 and #10. Lots of Dmen went early. I might have to trade for better D.

Definitely would upgrade your center position. Hits will definitely be a challenge in this roster to be competitive. I suggest to start looking to do some trades if there are not much in the waivers. Who are available on the waivers anyway?
Oops! My pool counts blocks, not hits.

And yeah I'm not in love with my centers/LW, although my centers have a chance to do very well if Larkin/Thomas have career years and Bennett/Dach breakout proper and Backstrom bounces back...lots of what ifs
