And you have proof of that? We know that's how it was worded in Panarin's contract, no guarantee that that is how it is worded in Laine's contract.

I have extrapolated from the fact that he did get paid $1.8M for the sole achievement of top 10 in Goals, and that as a rule teams seem to tweak only the maximum amount of money but otherwise give max allowed bonus for min allowed performance, probably because potential bonuses have cap implications and it would be craziness for them to keep up if they actually would set up some individual terms, and also not to **** off their potential superstar who, to get the B, already has to do some pretty special stunt that's totally worth the money.

$1.8M is the standard 2OA setup, as 2M is for the 1OA and 1.65M or thereabouts for the 3OA. Teams know, agents know, the team getting creative would be a needless hassle. Are you gonna say your prospect that top 10 in Assists won't do the trick for him?

It's an educated guess and not factual knowledge, but I bet Laine's ELC is worded standardizedly enough to actually agree to pay him $1.8M for Vezina, should he land on one.

Do we actually know how it was worded in Panarin's contract? The supposed "details" have been out there, but it all looks like a mere write-open of the allowed B bonus achievements from the CBA Exhibit 5, and may possibly be edited by the reporter to only include the forward-specific trophies in the reporting.

The Vezina inclusion was a joke mostly, but there is the very unlikely chance of an event that a forward on ELC might be utilised as a defender (or the other way around), and it would be VERY awkward if he ended up by a freak chance performing to be a trophy finalist worthy, but that position-specific trophy had been excluded from the B bonus achievement list in the ELC merely because he supposedly plays another position, and so the supposed defender wouldn't get his B bonus for ending up being voted fifth for Selke in his third year for example.

As we know, you don't get to re-negotiate the SPC in any way afterwards, and it costs nothing to include every unlikely trophy there for a player who gets the B bonus clause, but explicitly excluding some has a (nearly non-existent, yes) chance of blowing on the team's and the player's face.

Right. Forgot that. Any idea what winners get?

They are all listed in the CBA Exhibit 5.

Top 10 forwards in G/A/P get 150k to 60k, with 10k decrease at every step; Top 10 in PpG get 100k to 10k, 42 game minimum.

Top 10 defenders have the same amounts, but also 100k to 10k for top 10 ice-time (both aggregate and per game average, but total bonus capped at 100k), 42 game minimum.

Top 5 goalies in GAA, Save-% and Wins get 150k to 110k, 25 games/30 minutes minimum.

Top 5 for Hart, Selke, Norris, Vezina, Richard get 250k, 200k, 150k, 100k, 50k.

Conn Smythe winner gets 250k, Jennings winner 50k.

Top 3 for Lady Byng get 150k, 100k, 50k. Top 3 for Calder get 212.5k, 150k, 100k. Team-paid additional B bonus is not allowed for these two trophies.

1st team All-Star 100k, 2nd team 50k.

And, as said, only the players on ELC are eligible for these monies. If there is a tie, say 6th and 7th in goals, they add both sums up 100k + 90k = 190k and pay a half (95k) to each player who are eligible.

So, Leon Draisaitl with his 10th in PpG performance got a whopping 10k B-bonus from the league, but that also unlocked the Oilers-paid 1.625M B-bonus. And pushed Eichel out of his 2M of Buffalo-paid B-bonus.

Rasmus Ristolainen in 2015-16 season when he was still under ELC was 5th in league defenders in total aggregate ToI and 10th in ToI/G and got 60k + 10k from the league for it, but nothing from the team, because he didn't have individually negotiated B bonuses in his ELC.

Thanks for digging that up. :thumbu:
