Let’s get all the jokes out now. Yes, it was a terrible trade for LA. Blake got fleeced and gave out a bad contract to boot. Are there any teams in the league willing to take a flier on PLD? Are there any combinations of players or potentially salary retention that would make him more palatable? I’m hopeful that tomorrow is his last game in a Kings sweater.

Not sure maybe Habs if they don't land a center at five....Gotta take back a bad contract and less in return... might be only place he plays game in game out....

Way too much money and years for any team to have any interest at all. Would cost the Kings way too much to get rid of him to ever be worth it. Only hope is that he rebounds to his normal level.

Going to be expensive to move but many bad contracts been traded. Him and Huberdeau even flip? Both wrong fit with current team they with.

The buyout isn’t bad at all, relatively speaking. Once cap increases start up again like they did pre-Covid, those 3-4 million years won’t be as bad as they look now. And once they clear that last 2.8 year it’s peanuts from there. It could be a lot worse- I don’t know what option is even close to this out there- who is taking on this contract in a way that beats this?

Sorry man...............the key word in your statement is....................joke.
Best you can hope for is a rebound type of season next year, where he gets his odd year 55-60 pts production......
31 teams dodged a bullet.

I started a thread:

"To Pens: Dubois and Gavrikov
To Kings: Smith and Graves

Change of scenery trade that has LA and Pit move on from long-term deals for players that didn't work for them"

OP sets zero restrictions, just asks what will it take to move him.
Obv has negative value, and bad $$$ contract is long term to boot. B'c long term, = unavoidable that return MUST include a1 or more assets w/youth to mitigate vs long term signif cap hit.
No club is gonna take all of PLD complete term, full pop for like a single 1st.
Even w/retention cost to move = WAY WAY more.

Bread is a premium asset, 1 yr next season 11.6+m. Rs will not renew anywhere near that b'c preferred need to deploy that salary elsewhere.
He has full control nmc, but given the above looking for graceful exit, likely IMO to check out LA and see if it is a fit. If it is, Kings have inside first dibs.

Shesty is a Vez winnner elite G. next season @ outrageous bargain of 5.6-ish. LA has inside track to extend, no reason he shouldn't consider if you don't insult and pay him fair, like min offer 8.75 x 4.

Shesterkin + Panarin [if he waives]
for
Byfield + x _________ [moderate add] + PLD [full pop]

NY gets premium young pivot emerging from prospect status
+ is what it is/is not
losing bread = short term wince, but cap recovery is nec follow thru anyway

Pld - we have to pay him, we don't have to play him
Can see if he shapes up or not, if yes, great, if not, does he have value/what is cost to dump him at full 50% retained.
The cap hit is bad and will be real, but something along lines of the above will be ok short term.

Kings achieve objective of unloading pld disaster w/o retention, and add 1-2 quality pieces.
Byfield loss hurts, but unavoidable if serious about OP objective.

Habs should take bpa at 5OA regardless of position.

Need/desire to add pivot does not justify gamble on pld at full pop, full term.

Now, if Rs - Ks do m prop deal above, and Rs wind up w/him, it is conceivable that NY could be willing to eat 50% max cap hit for meager return, just to recover some cap and lose the drama.

Also, not sure he would not put out fully for Sens...

Way too much money and years for any team to have any interest at all. Would cost the Kings way too much to get rid of him to ever be worth it. Only hope is that he rebounds to his normal level.

Don't blame you but I thought Habs wanted to add a center....He is a risk shame he just doesn't go all out game in game out
Habs need actual offensive players with whom you win with caracter like Suzuki,Slaf,Dach...

You know, the opposite of Dubois

I have a sneaky feeling he'll rebound next year to being a 50-60 point player, the Kings probably just wait and hope he does anyway. He always blows hard after getting traded but then performs better the following year... this guy is a real and certified headcase for sure.

This is awful for the Rangers.
