Pierre LeBrun was on TSN radio in the last hour and he said that he's been a huge fan of Jonathan Bernier for a long time and believes that he will be as good as Carey Price is in Montreal. Bryan Hayes of TSN 1050 also mentioned that people within the NHL have told him that Bernier's puckhandling is elite and on par with Martin Brodeur.
Not the first time I've heard Price as a comparable. I think with his puck handling, he may actually be a little better overall. suffice to say, Bernier is going to make it very difficult for Reimer to hang on to the 1A gig for any length of time. I think we are looking at an absolute stud here. He's quite possibly as much a cornerstone piece as Kessel, Kadri, or Phaneuf.
The Leafs haven't had any sustained success since Belfour. Having that stability in goal anchors your group more than any other position, and as much as I enjoy Reimer when he's at the top of his game, I do think Bernier represents a new level of stability and consistency.
