Nah, if Gaudreau can hold the 4c spot then the roster will end up requiring a 2/3 LW. According to a recent Athletic article wings are easier to get this year and it is supposedly a "buyers market."

Sounds like they should be targeting the other Gaudreau.

Guentzel - Crosby
Gaudreau - Malkin

That's a nice 1-2 punch if they can get 71 back for the playoffs.

Duchene is coming back to Nashville. Way the team is playing, he might be 3rd line.

EDIT: Eric Haula for low pick and Janokowski?
Yes. A million times yes.

Get sam Bennett to play with jankowski
We're looking for more reasons to NOT play Jankowski. Not the other way around

No way they have the assets for that

That would be awesome but we don't have JR as our GM anymore so we most likely won't get a usual top 6 add. Rutherford was always in on the top available deadline players. This group stated they are not trading their top prospects. Honestly hate that because this team has the makings of the 2016-17 Cup team's. Being near the top of the league with 5 of 6 defensman out and then 5 of 9 top forwards out is very impressive. Crosby and Letang are playing at a high level and Malkin has also since having Kapanen as a linemate. Got to go for it while our core still can play at elite level.

On your trade scenario above that would be a crazy top 6!

Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
Gaudreau-Malkin-Kapanen
Zucker-McCann-Rodriguez
ZAR-Blueger-Tanev

Of course you couldn't keep that lineup intact for trading for Gaudreau it couldn't just be futures. Even using our top 2 prospects who both are past 1st round picks developing well couldn't get it done by itself. Poulin, POJ, +++. It would be a move Rutherford would look at but unfortunately this GM looks timid. Everyone praises Hextall for his team development skills but that Flyers team isn't doing so well now.

Rutherford built this team doing so well now at this time even with all the injuries to the same positions at the same time. The amazing part is he built this team with a team imposed real money cap of $75 million.

Jankowski is horrendous. He had no business playing in the NHL right now.

Haha that’s what the Flames did to sam Bennett...they ruined him by putting him on a line with a soft useless player

that said I honestly believe Bennett can be a good player. Not a star or anything like that but he can be a good support player

He would absolutely kill it here. We don’t got shit to give though if the Flames are rebuilding. He probably ends up on one of our rivals unfortunately.

The Pens don't really have the assets to land a big fish player at the deadline and still be competitive. Frankly, with a healthy roster, I don't think the NEED to add that kind of a player anyway. They have a pretty great top 6. Obviously, Johnny Gaudreau would probably score a billion goals in Pittsburgh, but I don't think it's a realistic scenario. They should be looking to improve their fourth line into one with actual scoring ability, or get someone who allows them to shuffle the existing lines such that the Blueger-Tanev line becomes the fourth line.

Luke Glendening, great faceoff guy, penalty killer, works his ass off every shift, and is likely to be dealt near the deadline. One of the few Wings that still consistently plays like he cares, rarely does anyone say he had a bad game.
Sounds like Zajac in NJ

Can either of these guys play the wing at all? While center is kind of a need at the moment, it would be nice to be able to acquire guys who can play both C and W when everyone is healthy and pieces need to be moved around.

Brandon - "Pens fans didn't like me because I wasn't as good as Jordan Staal" - Sutter. No thanks.
