“Good to go. All looks good, and I’ve got the green light,” Parise pronounced after a hard-skating, physical New Year’s Day practice at Xcel Energy Center. “I’m really excited. I’ve been looking forward to this for awhile. I’m glad it’s finally here. It’s been a lot of work, but I’m glad to get a chance to play (Tuesday).

Zach Parise 'good to go' to debut Tuesday, but patience will...

I'm tempering my expectations for Parise, but it would be fun to see him get a couple goals and have a great game tonight.

If it was the Av's I would have said a hat trick. I'll go with 1g (empty net).

I don't think his play will be much of a 5v5 factor in this game. Just having him back on the ice will give the team a boost.

I don't really like the lines, but they make sense. Parise hasn't played much/at all with Cullen, JEE, Ennis, Foligno, or Winnik. Has he ever been on a line with Zucker (other than a random shift)?

Right when people (for some reason) are now thinking the Wild are really going to be good, I predict a 4-1 loss. Could it be any other way with this bunch?

I think really good is a stretch. Not be mediocre is probably more correct.

My expectations for ZP the rest of the year. 3rd line/PP time, 10-15g, 15-20a, 25-35p.

Parise may look horrible tonight....hell, he may look horrible for a few games. Pretty sure Russo mentioned it, but it bears repeating. The fans are going to have to be VERY patient with him. It's been a long arse time since he's played in a real NHL game. There are a lot of variables between the surgery and time spent on the shelf that could result with him needing some extra time to adjust. We often see players needing a week or two at the start of the season to shake off some rust, and that's when they aren't coming back from an injury.

I just hope he stays healthy and is able to contribute. Maybe he'll exceed expectations. Who knows. But the key is patience.

Including pretty much all of last year, we are on about 120 games of being patientwith Parise. Fair or not, you sign a $100M contract, you need to produce. Now I'm not saying that we should string him up if he goes pointless tonight, but it is rather ridiculous that Russo is already making excuses for him before he even plays a game.

My guess is he's playing with Coyle and Stewart in an effort to protect him if someone gives him a shot in the back. Give him sheltered minutes, offensive zone starts, and ease him into the lineup. That's the wise thing to do.

That's not a good start start with Dub getting run over.

That's the best I've seen the Staal PP unit look in awhile.

Olofsson got run over. I don't mind dropping the gloves after the running over Dub, then the big hit on Olofsson. Would like to see a better fight though.
