After the expansion draft...

to FLA:
Gostisbehere, Giroux (retained down to $7m)
to PHI: 1st Round Pick, 2nd Round Pick, Luostarinen

If Philly wants to reset the locker room, they send Giroux's final year down to FLA in return for two early picks and an NHL ready center prospect. Ghost gets a fresh start in his home state playing bottom 4 minutes next to a defensively reliable RD like Weegar or Gudas.

to ARZ: Yandle (retained down to $5m), 5th Round Pick
to FLA: Future Considerations

Yandle is sent back to the desert for nothing. He and Ekman-Larsson can try to re-spark the Coyotes.

to NYR: Stralman
to FLA: 7th Round Pick

Stralman was good for the Rangers, and the Rangers have the cap space this year to take him back. They need a veteran RD for the blueline, Stralman could be it.

--------------------------------------

Verhaeghe - Barkov - Duclair
Huberdeau - Bennett - Tippett
Vatrano - Giroux - Hornqvist
Marchment/Denisenko - Lundell/Acciari - Heponiemi/Acciari

Forsling - Ekblad
Gostisbehere - Weegar
Nutivaara - Gudas

Rangers have Nils Lundkvist coming over who will likely take the 3RD. Don't really have much interest in taking on Stralman's 5.5M cap hit unless Florida is attaching an asset and the Rangers don't make a move to add a bigger cap hit somewhere else on the roster. Sad to say he's not what he was when he left otherwise I'd love to have him back.

No thanks to the Stralman deal. Rangers have Fox and Trouba at RHD. If there's going to be any Swedish RHD for them next year it's going to be Nils Lundvist on his ELC, not 35 yr old Stralman dragging home 5.5m to play 3rd pair.

flyers are not trading giroux. period. even with ghost added, whom i don't think is in "negative value" territory, that's not a good offer for a guy who is still producing at a first line rate.

A lot of Coyotes fans would like to see Yandle back in the desert. We all believed he was going to be the captain after Doan but I don't know if he plays the kind of game that BA is looking to acquire.

Can't really quibble about the value, but I can about the need. The Rangers really don't have a spot for Stralman.

I can quibble about the value. The Rangers just paid a 2nd rounder to dump a similar contract in Staal. Why on earth would we pay any price, even a 7th, to acquire a similarly worthless and expensive player? We aren't "getting Stralman" in this trade. We're "giving up 5.5 million in cap space." That needs compensated, especially in a flat cap world.

NYR both
(a) have 2 A prospects (not just Lundkvist, also Schneider, both will be at Worlds) imminent at RHD
(b) and if they add a vet D, probably on Left side

Stralman Cap Hit is high, and there will many decent options UFA this summer
so as suggested, retention and/or a sweetener probably needed to move Stralman to NYR

even more this^

time to jettison Stral has gone
in season, could have done Stral + for Deangelo, with idea if he was not a fit, you have early buy out.
Of course, NY would want something for enabling you to facilitate a cheaper buy out.

that window is closed

That could be the worst LD in the league, not worthy of FLA’s aspirations

So the Coyotes need a $5 million defenceman to play on the 3rd pair behind Chychrun and OEL why?
