Buffalo has easily the worst roster since the 04 lockout, but Miller keeps them in every game, and they've won 6 in a row at home.

Campbell usually plays above and beyond in Buff. I hope Thomas has his axe to grind vs Miller.

My gut feeling tells me this is going to be like the last Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills game. Dolphins need to win and Buffalo is out of the playoff picture so they play fast and loose with nothing to lose. Same situation for the Panthers and the Sabres on Thursday night. This really is a must win. But, what game isn't.

Off topic, but somehow the Islanders are one point behind us...we need this win to stay ahead.

the Islanders have zero impact on us since they play in the Metro...

edit: in fact hope that they win against Toronto tonight, that would be huge.

They can make the wild card though, can't they?

Yeah but our main competition is against our own division, since teams from Atlantic hold both wild card spots atm.

Metro sucks so bad this year that if you look at a team like Carolina that looks to be two points out of the wild card spot behind Toronto, with a win they actually would jump to second seed in their whole division. Metro might not get any wild card teams in.

Just means that the best bet for the Panthers is hoping that the divisional opponents lose, especially Toronto and Detroit.

Hopefully this made some sense

OT but looking at the game in Toronto and NYI actually seems to be putting it together. They look pretty good.

But my god, what a difference maker a working PP is. Panthers PP compared to either NYI or TOR is an embarrassment. Slow and clueless.

edit: actually don't know if NYI looks good or TOR bad. since TOR didn't look that good against us either.

Yeah, the Islanders have been getting better as of late. Goaltending is a little shaky/inconsistent though with Nabokov being out a bunch and Poulin and Nilsson being the backups.

Yup.

To be fair though, Toronto looks pretty bad. They got out worked by NYI playing back to back. Let's hope they keep tanking.

But the Isles can theoretically get a wild card spot instead of us though if they get enough points, right?

Yeah but it's a lesser evil giving points to NYI atm. A lot. For example Toronto, although they lost tonight to NYI, still has a lot more points and a better chance of grabbing that last wild card spot than NYI. We are better off giving those points to lower seed teams and especially non divisional rivalries than to Toronto. Two points for TOR tonight would have just moved the wild card spot two more points further away from us. Now we have a chance to gain ground again with a win on Thursday.

Anyway, it's much more clear if you just look at the "wild card" standings and forget the conference standings.

No Myers, no Stafford, and John Scott is seeing powerplay minutes. Somehow you know the Panthers will find a way to lose this game lol.
