HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2024 Playoff Edition

Pretty fun series in the west incoming!

Colorado - Dallas
Edmonton - Vancouver

Going with Dallas in 7 and Vancouver in 7 as well(hoping Demko is back)

The east is more boring as I think the Panthers will beat the Bruins in 5 and NYR in 6.

Dallas is going to the cup against NYR.

Edit: Wyatt Johnson is awesome, I would trade anyone on the team for him outside of Slafkovski and Suzuki.

Colorado blew away Jets. They going to be hard to beat. AVs in first series for me.

Oilers best record in NHL after new coach. I got my money on them.

Winnipeg pick moves up one slot for every time one of these three teams wins a series this round: Colorado, Edmonton, Boston. Highest possible is 24th. I'll be rooting for those three teams this round!!

Hellybuck was Hellybad against the Avs and the Jets don't have the same horsepower on the backend as the Stars do.

Makar aside, Avs don't have the depth on D that Vegas had

Will be close but going with Dallas based mostly on the superior G

Now if JD comes back for 2nd round he could be the secret weapon to put Colorado on top

Lady Bing? He's a cheap shotter who runs away when he's asked to answer for his actions and let others on his team defend him. I suppose it confirms that whomever makes the nominees list don't watch the games.

Matthews makes crafty takeaways every now and then, which is probably enough to get all the Leafs beats to vote that way. The Selke is obviously supposed to be about natural positioning, craftiness, and that extra effort to snuff the play, the last of which obviously disqualifies the big dummy

Matthews was 16th on the Leafs for PK minutes this season...If they wanted a Leaf player to get the Selke nod, it should have been Marner. You know, the forward with lots of points who actually PK and gets defensive duties.

Same thing with Staal's nomination, it's a reward for past efforts in his case, because he wasn't the Canes best defensive player this season and others had more points than him.

It might be me being an old guy yelling at clouds, but I'd like to see the Selke go back to the actual shutdown/defensive specialists. This used to be the occasion to celebrate the impact of guys like Kris Draper and John Madden, not add a trophy to top players who are already nominated to other trophies.

Hehe I'm 8/8 in the first round. I got Dallas winning it all but Colorado might change that, Im scared

I'm 4/8 but better than last year when I was 0/8.

Add every tier into barf except the stars and that's mine.

Can't stand the narrative around drouin like the organization didn't give him every opportunity here on every line with top pp time his entire tenure. Or that he's somehow rebounded putting up normal career numbers playing with a 140 player, which is basically double the rest of his career best line mates put up. Ruins a likeable Colorado for me.

Rangers are mega barf. Hate their fans. Hate kreider on the same level as lucic.

Canucks and oilers have trash fans too.

Dallas didn't tank and also don't have annoying fans.

Florida would be whatever. It may price some of their guys out and get us a better pick next year.

I have never seen a player getting acclaimed for things he is not like Matthews has. Makes him look like a made up fake star to me (goal scoring aside).

Can't say I care all that much about who gets it, the moment my team is out. I'd kinda like to see Dallas or Florida get it I guess, just because an all out offense first team winning it is more fun.

Now that leafs and jets are out and one of van-edm guaranteed to make it to the third round my interest in playoffs is pretty much non-existent until that third round.

And the excitement of browsing leafs sites has also kinda died. Boo! I miss having Habs in the playoffs.

No one asked Marner about his future, or I missed.

Samsonov seems to want a longer term contract.

Matthews took a hit and that's why he missed some of the games. He's not saying what it was (concussion, injury somewhere else)

Leafs are so free , we would easily beat them in a bo7 , the problem is we suck too much to make the playoffs
