You know Bergevin is a joke from the hockey gods when he's being called the disaster artist 6 months after saying that "the answer is in the room".

"Je considère que nous avons une meilleure équipe, surtout à la ligne bleue.»"

The team goes from 198 goals allowed to 258.

"On n’a pas perdu un joueur de 25 ans. Avec tout le respect que je dois à Andreï, il aura 39 ans en décembre. À un certain moment, il faut regarder vers l’avenir."

Says that after trading his possible replacement and signing Karl Alzner instead.

It's like he sets himself up to fail at every turn.

Did Nashville's David Poile do anything this off-season?

What about the other WC teams?

Poile's been pretty quiet this off-season. He's locked up more depth players and minor leaguers. He's signed Tinordi and Jeremy Gregoire (AHL deal). His priority right now is to sign Ryan Hartman and Juuse Saros, who are both RFA's. There is also Ryan Ellis who has one more year left and can be signed at any moment.

To be fair to Poile, he's made big moves the last few years and has locked up some key pieces to long term deals. So he can focus more on depth right now.

As for other Western Conference teams, most notably:

- Kings signed Kovalchuk and extended Doughty.
- Coyotes got Galchenyuk and extended OEL.
- Sharks extended Kane, Couturier, Thornton, and Hertl, as well as traded for Hoffman with Sens and then flipped him to Panthers for a bunch of picks.
- Canucks signed Roussel and Beagle.
- Flames traded Hamilton for Hanifin & Lindholm, signed Neal and Derek Ryan.
- Golden Knights signed Stastny.
- Blues traded for ROR, signed Bozak & Perron.
- Avs traded for Gudbrauer (and extended him) & Orpik (and bought him out).

Blackhawks, Ducks, Oilers, Stars, Wild, Preds, and Jets have been relatively quiet.

This Karlsson saga is taking way too long.

Yea. The TSN guy who reported via Twitter that the deal with Tampa is done, pending the call to the NHL (said he had sources real close to the situation had confirmed it to him). Friedman came out not long after reporting he's getting denials on that trade. And then the TSN guy who reported it initially came out and apologized for coming out so quickly with the report or something of the sort.

Just for fun what's your take on St Louis, Dallas and Arizona? Any of the moves these teams made good enough to get them into the playoffs excluding Arizona of course.

I think that Winnipeg is looking a little thin down the middle without Statsny. Vegas got Statsny but still not sure if they will take a step back this year or not.

I hope Tampa gets Karlsson. Rather see them get a CUp then Toronto. But why is it taking so long?

It’s been 10 years we didn’t have a 70+ point scorer. Radulov could have been the player to break this bad streak but instead we let him walk away and he got his 70 points with Dallas.

He was a great player in the Q and an absolute stud at the WJC. Whatever happened to him? Is he coming to camp this year?

Heart condition forced him to miss a year. He came back to Laval, but didn't see a future for himself in our organization. Both sides mutually agreed to terminate the contract.
