I love how we've turned this thread into foodie-porn. These recommendations are awesome -- that fish suggestion by Kiwi looks so frikkin good!

I will also be in town for this game! Making my ~13th trek from Toronto for a game.

I am pretty familiar with the city and have my favourite spots, but can y'all come to a consensus of the best example of Montreal style pizza for me to try?

Went here once. Delicious, creative menu of choices, trendy and often crowded. It's a five minute drive from the Bell Centre, but located in an easy-to-park area of lower Westmount.

Thank you and I might've started the transformation. I love food (cooking and eating) and talking about it. Call me a foodie if you shall.

Le Majestique on St-Laurent totally worth a visit. Oysters and a killer high end hot dog and other awesome menu items!

A lot of my friends are partial to Brigade pizza which is an authentic Neapolitan-style pizzeria located on Stanley I think.

Go to Faubourg (Guy and Sainte-Catherine), 2d floor...Go to Bangkok... order the Phad Thai...

This is my opinion but I prefer the Smoke Meat at Dunn's and the poutine at Chez Claudette (over banquise)

Mr Dallas, After reading this thread I have a few tips for you:
I recommend you get all of the hospital locations as you will most likely need one if you eat over 3 poutines and a bunch of smoked meat sandwiches in a 48 hour span. #2 book a few extra days for recovery. # 3 hit the hotel gym every morning.

Seeing how this turned into a food thread, it seems like the best place to ask.

Does anybody know where I can get an authentic quattro stagioni pizza in Montreal?

Do yourself a favour and get out of the downtown core. It's nice and deserves to be seen for first-timers, but there's so much more to see and fortunately, the metro makes it all easily accessible (most of the time).

Get out at Jean-Talon and check out the Jean-Talon Market. It's better during the summer but it still has some great food year-round.

Get out at Place St-Henri and walk on Notre-Dame going East until you get to Atwater Market, another great market. The Notre-Dame strip is also home to many great food options. You can also reach the Lachine Canal there which is super nice for walks.

Get out at Laurier and go East to explore the Plateau and Mile End, probably the most trendy neighbourhoods in the city right now and home to many other great food spots, especially on Fairmount with Fairmount Bagels and Wilensky's if you're craving a bologna sandwich. St-Viateur has St-Viateur Bagels (both bagel spots deserve to be tried) and some nice italian coffee spots.

Get out at Sherbrooke and walk East to reach Parc Lafontaine, a nice place to take a walk, feels a bit like a small Central Park. You have La Banquise for poutine (although you will wait and I personally don't think it's that great) and Ma Poule Mouillée (portuguese chicken) right next to the park.

Get out at Pie-IX and check out the Olympic Park (Biodome, Insectarium, Planetarium, Olympic Stadium, Saputo Stadium, Botanical Gardens, etc.).

Get out at Mont-Royal and take the 11 bus up the mountain to the top of Mont-Royal for some of the best sights this city has to offer.

Of course you can also drive/take cabs to all these places but the metro is pretty simple to use and gets you to all those places fairly easily. Montreal is also a great walking city and there's no better way to get a feel for all the different neighbourhoods. Have fun!

Glad to help out. :)

I'm fully vegan and the only exception to the rule is that black cod dish. I have it 3-4 times per year. You know it's good.

Hehe I'd rather die than lose my lechon. The most delicious food on the planet. And I eat everything. Except bananas.

Get out at Pie-IX and check out the Olympic Park (Biodome, Insectarium, Planetarium, Olympic Stadium, Saputo Stadium, Botanical Gardens, etc.).

And if you're hungry, there's Poutine Centrale on Hochelaga street, maybe a 5 minute walk from the stadium. Good poutine, usually not a crowded place.

And... what the hell is this thread? We're being way too nice. **** the Stars and their lousy players! :sarcasm:

Can anyone recommend some good record stores in the city? Would particularly love to find a copy of "Halte la, les Canadiens sont la" on vinyl...hah

There was a place in the Faubourg that supposedly has the best General Tao in town. John Moore from Newstalk Toronto was raving about it, but don't have the name. Anyone?
