With this move today, ya it makes sense. I am onboard as well. For the 1st time in 10 years, I think I am ready to start trading futures for help on D.

It's going to be hard, to be honest. Just on paper.
Kadri isn't really speedy enough to play with Kapanen and Johnsson and have all three be effective.
Matthews complained about playing with Nylander, Hyman and Brown exclusively last season and made it known he wanted Marner on his wing.
Tavares was promised Marner, and you want him with one of our better young established wingers (Marner/Nylander).
Marner was magic with Kadri.
It's roooooooooooough.
Kadri is without a doubt going to get hit hard production wise with the signing.
I am so behind this forward lineup. Can flip flop Leivo/Marleau.Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Leivo-Tavares-Marner
Marleau-Kadri-Brown
Johnsson-Lindholm-Kapanen
Gauthier/Martin (or someone else if they trade him)
I still think there could be some larger moves on defense, and McE may not be the backup next year.
What's your source for Matthews complaining about Nylander? I find it hard to believe Matthews would complain about Nylander. Wanting to play with Marner doesn't mean he's unhappy with Nylander. Nylander is in the same tier as Marner.
Hyman isn't on his right side, Nylander is. Marner is also a RW.
He wanted to play with Marner and was upset he wasn't given the chance. Marner would play with him at the expense of Nylander.
Matthews and Mitch are best friends. Nylander is more a loner - you never see him out with the guys.
Marleau | Tavares | Marner |
Johnson | Matthews | Nylander |
Hyman | Kadri | Kapanen |
Grundstrom | Lindholm | Brown |
I'd be pissed off as Matthews if I get saddled with Hyman again all season (for my career?) and Tavares gets the superior wingers...my ideal lines would be:
Grundstrom-Matthews-Marner (top end talent with Grundstrom adding size and some skill)
Johnsson-Tavares-Nylander (top end talent - determination of Johnsson/Tavares rubs off on Willie)
Marleau-Kadri-Kapanen (speed on the wings with some edge from Kadri)
Hyman-Jooris-Brown (steady as she goes - great hustle)
...

Play the first line 18 minutes a night. Play the second line 18 minutes a night. Play the third line 16 minutes a night. Play the fourth line 8 minutes a night and most of that is PK.
Rolling four lines is great and we need that fourth line to be competent, but we should be putting an elite #1C out on the ice for as close to 40 minutes a night as possible.
This! And Grundstrom switching with Martin according to the opponent.Johnsson - Matthews - Nylander
Marleau - Tavares - Marner
