Many French players not allowed to go but still a very strong team with Camavinga and Caqueret in midfield ().
Gignac and Thauvin called up as senior players.
Saliba called up too.

1/ We still have our awful U21 coach, Ripoll.
2/ Plenty of teams have already said they wouldn't release their players (Gouiri, Camavinga, Badiashile, Sarr).

So I just realized that Kruse will be going to the Olympics :yo:

Uduokhai, Torunarigha, Henrichs, Mittelstadt, Löwen, & Serdar all eligible 97ers that haven't played for any NTs this summer...Uduokhai is the only one I know has been/is going to be asked; though I'm thinking Florian Müller is really likely to be in net.

Geiger is supposed to be back in training over the next week...I dunno if Hoeneß will want him playing for the Olympic team, but with Stiller joining Geiger, Grillitsch & Samassekou, TSG has nice depth in the midfield even if Geiger has to be eased in once he gets back with Hoffenheim.

I wonder if any of Brandt / Amiri / Dahoud will get calls...

how did even teams like saudi, new zeeland and australia get in. there is like 20 teams in europe alone that is way better.

australia really have declined btw, their best prospect is a guy who plays in danish league, and he is not even doing good there.

australia;

and sergino dest is from suriname and netherlands with that logic.
Theres clear differences. For one thing he was given the passport becuase of his talent. You don’t get it by being born there or apply for one even after decades living there.

Germany roster getting announced tomorrow. So far the only names that I've read that seem likely to be nominated are Torunarigha, Uduokhai, Maier, Burkardt, & Arnold as one of the O23 players.

FIFA has done a good job of making olympics football uninteresting and irrelevant.

IIHF should take note and establish a real world cup of hockey.

I...I don't even know what to say to this, but our Olympic team has finally been released:

on paper its the best team together with brazil, spain and france.

you must be happy kruse is on it.

Something like this?

Kruse - Richter/Teuchert
Amiri - Maier - Dorsch - Arnold - Henrichs
Pieper - Uduokhai - Torunarigha
Muller

Yeah, I'm happy for Max. He should've been more of a figure for the NT through his career and getting to go to this tourney is a nice way to recognize him.

Though I think we're a step down from the squads that Spain or Brazil are sending, I do like a lot of the squad and think the squad we're sending should be on par with the best of the rest, like Argentina/France. I'm thinking a 4-3-3, but who will start is tricky as so many of those guys can fill multiple spots...Kruse as a 9 or a 10, Jakobs as a LB & winger, Amiri as an 8/10 & winger, Torunarigha as a CB & LB, Henrichs as an 8 & RB, Vagnoman as a RB & outside CB in a back 3, Löwen as a 6 & CB, etc.

EDIT:
I think I'd most like to see:

Amiri - Kruse - Richter
Arnold - Henrichs*
Dorsch/Maier*
Jakobs - Torunarigha - Uduokhai - Vagnoman*
Müller

with Jakobs pushing up a lot higher on his side to combine with Arnold, Amiri & Kruse...creating a lopsided back 3 in possession & freeing Richter (or Teuchert) to run into the space opened up with Kruse movements. But I dunno how likely that is.

I think that more realistically it'll be Raum & Henrichs as the FBs...maybe Torunarigha at LB with Pieper next to Uduokhai at CB...with Jakobs in the team as a winger & the midfield featuring Arnold alongside two of Amiri / Maier / Dorsch.

Jakobs/Amiri - Kruse - Amiri/Richter
Arnold - Maier/Amiri
Dorsch/Maier
Raum - Torunarigha - Uduokhai/Pieper - Henrichs
Müller
