I watched the Canadian women play USA last night. Despite winning they didn't play very well. Hopefully they find their top form real soon.

I watch the China game. Jones’ last two shots were surprisingly bad.

At least the last game is against Denmark...
Which is at the bottom of the standing...
And Canada owns all the tie-breakers.
As long as Jones wins...
Canada should go through.

The whole team has been up-and-down though.
Jones was great during that 3-game winning streak...
But she was awful against China.
Canada should have won...
But she missed a couple of shots that allowed China to steal.
Hopefully Canada pulls it off.
There have been so many almost results in Beijing.

Yeah, I read about that some time ago. It's a damn shame but also not alone in Korean sports. Their shorttrack team has a similar scandal, for instance.

The whole Korea sports federation is messed up.
There have been so many scandals over the years...
But the same people continue to be in-charge.

Also...
It does not help that the toxicity bled into athlete relationships too.
Korean society places very high importance on hierarchy...
So that leads to a lot of bullying scandals too.

Honestly...
Under that environment...
I am surprised Korea is still able to produce world-class athletes.

The Canadian women will need some help even with a win tonight. If Canada, Switzerland, Sweden and Great Britain win they are screwed. The "DSC" will come into play, which is the draw shot challenge (or draw to the button to determine who gets the hammer) and Canada has been awful at it this tournament.

In all of these scenarios...
Canada has to win to advance.

Canada does control its destiny...
And it plays a bottom ranked team.
As long as Jones and company does not crap the bed...
It should be fine.

Even if they win there are a couple of scenarios where they don't make it, and one of those seems like the most likely (with Switzerland, Sweden and GB also winning).

There are 2 of those situations...
Which is not that bad.
Regardless...
Canada has to win no matter what.
Otherwise...
It is out.

As long as the team does its part...
It controls its own destiny.
That is basically the best scenario at this junction anyways.

John Shuster and the gang are back in the playoffs, sneaking in at 5-4 again

Swiss...
Great Britain...
Canada...
And Sweden won.

Canada is out.
Sigh.

Pretty sad stuff. Overall a pretty disappointing showing from the Women, looks like the era of dominance has truly come to an end.

There are still good curlers...
But the world caught up.
Every team in the world has a shot at every game now.
That is actually not a bad development...
In the grand scheme of things.

At least Jones already has a gold medal.

Tight game SWE - CAN (men). It was all about someone making a mistake giving up points and none did. Canada had some weak stones, but there always was a remedy for them.
I heard the commentators state that Canada never has be outside of the final, tough loss if true. They might even go without medal now, the US is playing as well as Canada does.

Watching the broadcast of this Sweden/Korea game on the women's side and in case anyone didn't know, the Korean team are known as the 'Garlic Girls.' It's the only thing this guy knows to say about them.

Does he at least know why?
