The ATL!
Damn, the Thrashers guys are showing up all over the place. Let's just hope OLN doesn't poach any of them like ESPN did with Erin Andrews..... Darren did a number of playoff games with ESPN in the past, and JP has done playoffs games for ESPN in the past (The only way JP will end up on OLN would be if he quit working for ESPN [He does soccer games on ESPN in addition to his Thrashers duties].

I was surprised when I saw Jaffe on OLN last night instead of the Thrashers game. Kamal had the radio booth to himself last (I wonder who Darren's sidekick for the radio postgame was last night since Jaffe was in STL?)

Eliot sucks, but I like Beninati. He looks like a younger version of Emrick to me. As for Eliot, speak up!

And seriously, why did they bother hiring McGuire? He's rarely ever there. IMO, I think there's some decent chemistry between Clement, Jones and Smith. Does that mean I wouldn't still take Buccigross over Clement in a heartbeat? No, but they are improving and becoming a team.

JP is also ESPN first, above Thrashers games. I know he has skipped out on some to call for ESPN. I wish he could get the NBC gig, but since he will be on ABC during the World Cup, highly doubtful

Joe B and Eliot were slightly better last night than Beninati was with Engblom in two games a few weeks ago. It was probably the worst announcing I have heard in a long time. Zzzzzzzz. They missed a few scoring chances during the first period as they meandered about topics. The poster above is correct in that Eliot needs to speak up, either that his mic needs to be turned up. You can hear the skates glide over the ice above his voice.

By far the best play-by-play is Emrick and the best duo is Emrick and JD. Many people don't like JD, but I think he is a pretty good color guy. He's like Dan Dierdorf of the NHL - either you want to slap him for his deliverance of some of his analysis or you really dig the fact that he loves the game and is better than most color out there.

Pierre McGuire is only around to provide a little fourth-party "analysis" and opinion. I'm not a big fan, but can handle small doses of McGuire. It beats having Clement, Jones, and Smith for each broadcast, not that they aren't knowledgable guys, but that trio probably won't have the juice that Buccigross, Melrose, and Ferraro did even if they spend a few seasons together honing thier chemistry. It would be nice to see one or all three of the former ESPN crew slide over to OLN, but I don't see that happeneing. You might get one or two of them if the NHL on OLN really takes off.

Next week - three games, a Monday 2x-header so we get to see some teams from the West.

One out of three is more likely. Melrose just re-upped with ESPN, and Ferraro signed on with the Oilers. Don't know if he's working at games, or a studio job. If he's travelling, it might be possible.

No clue when his contract expires, but I think he's written that he has a while to go.

OLN wanted to do a game before the Olympic break. They'll also be doing a game the night they come back.

Stevedude-- where do you get this stuff? I've been digging around NBC's sites forever trying to get secondary announcer info, etc.

I want the truth!! :teach:

Personally I think beninati/eliot are terrible. :dunno:

I wasn't too impressed with Beninati the other night. I have no problems with Eliot, since he's been the Thrashers' TV color commentator since the first season, so I've been hearing him for a while now.

They ought to put Jaffe in the color role on OLN, he already does it for the Thrashers' radio broadcasts.

I look at websites of teams, and for NBC nobody has a clue who the 2nd and 3rd broadcasting teams will be. I'll get March's sked up Monday.

Looks like the press release came out. Will you be adding the regional NBC games soon?

Wild and Stars are going to anchor one of NBC's days?

They certainly have a lot of faith.

Beninati must be doing the Kings game tonight. Or else that is some plane Jim Jackson will be hoping on once the Flyers game is over
