Watch Ryan, McGinn, and DiGiuseppe all get massive raises to reach the cap floor.
"Significant increase"
He had 30 points last year and is a good face off man. It's about the doing rate for a 3C. I'm not saying it's "good", but if other plans fell through...
As Francis has said he's not going to sign long term big money deals to avoid situations with our upcoming RFAs. He may have to pay more today to hit the floor on one year contracts
Not a chance. One year of JVR is not gonna get u Pesce.Toronto fan here, came sniffing for teams that would be interested in JVR. Brett Pesce seems like an ideal pickup for the Leafs, do Carolina fans think there is any chance of a deal involving those two players or am I high?

JVR with a significant extension, however, which can happen after July 1, could. And I really hope that Francis is looking at trades based around that option.
Even then, I don't expect Francis to consider moving Pesce for even one second as it puts TVR on the 2nd-pair. That would be bad.
I'd love to be wrong and see Ryan progress and improve on last year's numbers I just really don't think it's likely. I don't think having him around is a bad move in a vacuum but like I said, a minimal role with favorable ice time is all I would trust him with. Again I would love to be wrong... he's got a great story and seems like a great guy.
Yeah, the right side depth would be an issue. But as a question of straight value, that's not an absurd starting point.
That's a "I gave up trying to find better players" statement if there ever was one. Boosting a tweener's 1-year contract just to meet the cap floor
At least wait till August or something, when it's good and clear that there are no other cards on the table.
He was overslotted last year due to lack of forward depth and we're on the precipice of making the same mistake again.
It's not just UFA centers, UFA forwards of any sort frigin blow this year. It actually would have been a good year to try to bring someone over from the KHL ranks if possible but that would be way too expensive for this team.
