Huh. I hadn't been watching the Eastern playoff race so I had no idea where they were in the standings, but the way the main boards and the media were hyping the Leafs, you'd have thought they were Division/Conference leaders.

Wasn't long ago they were 3rd in the Atlantic and just a few points behind Montreal and they are still just 4 points back of Ottawa. The playoff race is interesting 5 teams are within 6 points of the Isles for the 2nd Wild Card spot

I liked them when they were irrelevant. And just like every Toronto team that has recently become better, their fans and the media have ruined the franchises for me to the point that I actively root against them

Looking at the stats above, I just noticed something. The Flames have 35 wins, the Oilers 34 and the Ducks have 33. The 2 of them are only ahead of the Flames because they managed to lose in OT more than the Flames have.

Looking at the rest of Calgary's schedule, it's not going to be easy. A couple against LA, Ducks, SJ and a few other legit teams as well.

These guys cannot take the foot off the gas pedal. They have games ever second night soon, this is where GG really needs to prepare this team.

True. But our fate is 100% in our hands and you gotta like that.

I personally love it. Like Hox said, our fate is in our own hands. Since the boys really started to get used to Gully's systems, we have been one of the better teams in the NHL in spite of not scoring a ton of goals. I feel very comfortable down the stretch.

Oh I agree. I love the fact it's in our hands. Yet, our key players are pretty young....they have to learn to keep the foot on the gas. With every win in the last month and in the coming months, is nothing but a positive learning experience for these kids. There is something to be said about winning and the mind set you carry. We saw the opposite up north.

But for a team that seems to be very tight in the room, knowing it's in their hands has to be a huge boost, and a different kind of pressure that elevates everyone

Well, actually, it's because they have been beaten in regulation fewer times than the Flames have. The Flames actually win fewer games in regulation than they lose in regulation, but we're a dynamite team in OT as we've gotten used to the last few years.

Come playoff time, our 5-on-5 abilities will need to be better than they have been.

I'm a bit wary to use stats from November 15 onwards because it feels like cherry picking but we're 21-16 in regulation since then.

This. There is no 3-3 in OT in the playoffs. We need to win games in regulation, and win them convincingly.

3-0 Nucks over Kings halfway through the 2nd, and the Hawks beat Nashville 3-2 in regulation earlier today, so overall we're now 6th in the conference.

I am a Nucks fan tonight lol

Miller is hot. I doubt the Kings can come back now.

Sad to seeing Iggy running around helping his new team. He doesnt have the skills anymore. He looks like an undisciplined Bennett except he is 39 not 19 :shakehead

Jets might end up passing the kings soon.

Magic number down to 13.5 games with the win today.

Any Flames win, or Kings regulation loss brings that down by 1. Any Flames OT/shootout loss, or Kings OT/regulation loss brings it down by .5.
